Good Morning Everyone,

First time posting on this thread. I was wondering if someone could help me out or point me in the right direction. I've heard great things about this forum. So, on my Asus Z790 Hero, I wanted to disable "Above 4G Decoding" but the setting seems to be enabled and greyed out. Any ideas anyone?

My second question was about RAM OC. Did anyone get 7800MHz or 8000MHz/8200MHz working on the Z790 Hero board? Which parameters did you use, voltages ect. I have done a memtest with 7600MHz CL36-36-36-36-121@1.4v it passed with flying colours. While 7800MHz CL36-36-36-36-126@1.45v gets 1 error each time. In games it doesn't seem to be crashing so far nor in productivity works. I was really hoping to get 8000MHz/8200MHz, most likely only the Apex board is capable of that. I know the new Z790 Apex refresh is coming out along with the 14900K on the 17th of October. Anyways, I'm getting off topic. If someone has a stable 7800MHz CL36 setup with their Z790 Hero board, could you please share your settings and your CPU SP values (P-Core, E-Core) and MC SP.

Thanks to everyone for taking their time to help me out, it is greatly appreciated.

No, the Hero is mediocre for memory overclocking, and it's known amongst everyone who uses it. You accepted your fate when you bought it, lol.

7800 should be doable unless you have a dud board or CPU, max hero can do is about 8000MTs.

Here's 7800 at 1.5v VDD/VDDQ

Thanks to everyone for their help so far. What about the "Above 4G Decoding"? How do I go about disabling it when it's enabled and greyed out? And I can't change it nor select it, since it's obviously greyed out. It must be associated with some setting that has to be modified so I could change it?

With a lot of luck, yeah. But the vast majority have failed to hit 8,000 MHz with it.

I got my RAM to work at 7800MHz CL36 stable, Memtest ran 4 passes 0 errors. Big thanks to everyone for their help!

My other issue is turning off "Above 4G Decoding". If anyone has any ideas about this? As you can see it's automatically enabled and the setting is greyed out, so I can't select it nor change it for whatever reason. I'm thinking it must be some other setting associated with it, that needs to be changed.

Hey, I can turn of ReBar but Above 4G Decoding stays enabled and greyed out. I would like to disable it completely also. I'm sure there is a way, for example on the Z790 Apex it can be disabled. There are 3 possibilities either my Motherboard is faulty, or some setting needs to be modified in order to change Above 4G Decoding. Or Z790 Hero just doesn't allow to disable Above 4G Decoding.

There are two locations in the BIOS with that option.
Sorry if it doesn't work for you.
