I have just replaced my vega 64 LC "silver brick" with 7900xtx taichi,
the vega 64 moved back to my previous pc and retired from 4k gaming but will still go on for years of 1080 gaming in which it still shines.

This baby has served me outstanding and will keep doing so.

oh very nice man, that is an insane upgrade haha!

Even so our Vega's do have a nice key advantage even today they can still be made useful as gaming goes, HBCC aka High Bandwidth Cache Controller, here a very nice video by Hardware Lab of HBCC in use with a RX Vega 56 with current games:

The game named The Last of Us Part 1 shows how well it can work, not saying it works with everything, Radeon VII users can also take good use of this sweet advantage as well.

As for my V64, I kept it as it's a collectors item now, here it lays in my hardware collection in my coffee table:

As for the boxes, I did keep those too, not to worry :)

Of course those are lovely!!! that is actually the professional version of the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition actually, very nice card indeed!
I guess the AMD Adrenalin drivers 23.9.3 drivers can work with those as well right?

How does it perform is it like a Vega Frontier Edition or a Vega 56 as that goes?

The MI25 is kind of a weird one. It doesn't have a display output (but does have a mini dp hidden for testing) and it only has linux server drivers. It has passive cooling, a very weak VRM, and reduced clock speeds.

But several of us figured out you can flash it to WX9100 to get that mini-dp working and use windows drivers. Cooling the GPU and VRM is a challenge especially if you figure out how to raise clocks and power limits on par with the desktop versions.

Stock after flash to a WX 9100, I'm guesstimating around a Vega 56 AIB-partner card
with some boost in extreme VRAM-usage scenarios (IIRC, I can get STALKER Anomaly[VSR 3200x1800] and MechWarrior5 to use more than 8GiB VRAM)

However,
after tweaking w/ RdN.ID drivers and OverdriveNTool, they'll beat V64s and VFEs.
Problem I have is the cooling; I can get 1600+core 1000+HBM 'stable' on both of mine, but they destabilize as they heatsoak.
Even my Graphene-modified and repasted card, can't sustain much more than 250W w/o eventually clocking down or driver crashing.
The 2nd card (an 'as pulled' MI25-WX9100 + tape-ducted 12x3.8cm fan) cannot sustain more than 200-215W w/o crashing.
Got a lead over @ EHW for some VII coolers to mod-on but, they're outta town @TM.

You got it! (y)

Also, they do work w/ DP MST hubs for multiple displays. You lose FreeSync compatibility, though. Ran 1x MI25-WX9100 in my CPU x16, and a 6500XT in my X570's x4 gen4 slot, for multiple displays.
Now, I have 2 MI25-WX9100s no 6500XT, and I'm just waiting on the mDP-HDMI 'dapters to arrive.

It's "temporary"
(until my other 3 MI25s show up, hopefully)

PS:
AMD doesn't limit WX 9100s to 2-card CrossfireX like with the Vega 56, 64, etc.

there are at least 2 different mi25 versions , a 110w, and a 300w variant, the 110w variant I have does 400w+ with no issue, software monitoring puts the vrm at ~90c during sustained 375w load. hot to the touch, but not instafry hot, I did notice that some mi25s have a 8+6 pin configuration, and others 8+8pin(like mine), so some luck plays into it.

I use a 6000rpm blower to cool mine which is very loud but it can handle around 350-400w sustained depending on the room temp.

I wonder if that's the diff between the 6+8pin and 8+8pin variants?

The 6+8s w/ chassis-mounting SECC shrouds appear to have come out of Dell Poweredge C4130s.
6+8s w/ AMD Radeon Instinct shrouds (Q1K38A), look like HP Enterprise 'pulls'. Inventec also appears to have used the 6+8 variants. -
in addition to the 300W variants

Still, I'm not 100% sure where the 8+8pin power input MI25s w/ AMD Radeon Instinct shrouds came from. (I have only 1, and most on eBay are the 6+8).

Note: the PCBs look identical between the two variants; there's even solder pads for the +2 at the 6-pin.
The coolers have very minor production-variation. My 6+8s appear to have VERY slightly taller fins on the VRM+PCB-cooling front/top-plate.

The PowerPlayTables between my 2 variants were different; though, I did not investigate in detail before cross-flashing to the WX 9100 vBIOS.

If curious, I'd be willing to share the vBIOS from ea. my 1 8+8 and my 6+8s
(I should have more 6+8 variant cards today, too)

Regardless, my experiences mirror yours; both varieties will run V64 and VFE LC clocks (and higher) with sufficient cooling.

Speaking of cooling:
I've also got 3x Radeon VII stock coolers showing up today for my MI25s; I'll need to get measurements and order shim(s) still, though.

My Radeon VII died so I decided to fire up my Vega FE until I get a new card in the future. However, I can no longer switch to the gaming drivers but the pro driver seems just fine. I might be missing updates for certain titles though.

Is Resizable bar supported for this card? I can activate Resizable bar in BIOS and GPU-Z reports that it works. It's kind of strange that the GPU tach seems to be maxed out whenever Resizable bar is activated. Also, HBCC and Resizable bar on Vega sounds promising at least in certain work loads.

Resizable Bar is not supported officially. But modded driver (from guru3d forums) can activate it.

Well I after I cleaned out my system about a mere 4 days ago, the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6800 XT Special Edition had to be RMA'ed after 6.5 months of use, it kept rendering unwanted artifacts in my games, plus a random flash & black screen in windows...
Not sure what happened to quality control these days, it's as if the Vega cards were better built, could be just me though since anything computer based can die even if it is new or old, but it's odd I ran in to this more than 3 times now GeForce or Radeon related, last time was back in 2016 with my EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 which suffered from a similar issue.

So anyways to leave that aside, I put my 6 year 7 month old Sapphire Nitro+ RX Vega 64 back in to service and like always she runs like a true dream! 🦖🥰 🦎

The Nitro+ RX 6800 XT SE was returned to Amazon's distribution center after my dad made contact with them, he bought the card for me with his Visa card and he is also legally insured just if all goes wrong, he can make sure I will always get my money back, gladly that is not the case yet.

So here's my cleaned system with the Sapphire Nitro+ RX Vega 64!

Vega 64 reference PCBs are some of the best I can remember.

Is there a way to install gaming drivers on Vega FE? The registry mod doesn't work anymore nor the Nimez driver which proceeds to install Radeon Pro drivers.

Thanks a ton!

UPDATE:
The registry mod enabled me to use the gaming driver features (ex. Anti-lag, Chill etc.). Still, the driver is stuck in Radeon Pro so I guess that's that.

Well been enjoying my Nitro+ RX Vega 64 a lot lately, also in Ascentroid a game I am main tester & game content creator for, for it's age being 6 years and 7 months old, the V64 tends to give me very decent frame rates at 2560x1440x32 in Epic Settings even being, no frame time lag either just fluid motion 85 to 120 fps on average.
Here some screenshots that I made with the V64 during testing:

My Ascentroid name is Obi-Wan, RETHINK is an other tester & game content creator and Verran is the main developer, they both gave me a hard time in that match, it was very challenging :)
Ascentroid is Verran's take of the perfect 6DoF game, it's gameplay is alot like that of Descent 2 from 1996, which was made by Parallax Software/Volition and released by Interplay.

More about Ascentroid can be seen n my Descent/Freespace collection topic:

And some Far Cry 6 as well:

Around 150+ fps as well at 1440p:

Oh if you use the Pro Drivers the Die Core Voltage is up to more than 1,3Volts in Stock. That is what I found out with the Pro Drivers from AMD. Also I wanted to inform you about the Bios Switch they not working properly as you wrote. It's nothing more than the OC Bios has TDP from 260 or the Normal One has 240 Watts TDP. There are some Bioses to Download and than Flash the Right one on the Right Switch Standing. Make a Backup via Gpu-Z or you maybe gonna Loose it. I personally don't have Flashed a Modified or Updated Bios on my Vega Card. But so has it to work. Ask Google, there is a lot to find.
