I finally managed to get my hands on a 3080 ti and I wanted to make sure I am not doing it a disservice by running an older PSU. I know these PSUs have a 10 year warranty but I wanted to ask. Would you guys use it on a 3080 ti if it was bought in 2017?

Heck yeah I would. Good PSUs last a long, long, long time. The only way I'd be worried is if you had been pulling maybe 750-800W out of it regularly every day since you bought it. Even then, it should still be quite fine for this for several years.

Edit: kiriakos is wrong. Sorry, kiriakos. Please don't get a new PSU, Clausewitz. You don't need one.

If the warranty is 10 years it should be able to last that at the very least and it can probably last longer than that
The only flaw on the G3 is the fan curve when its set in hybrid mode

How long a PSU lasts is dependent on it's build quality.

I have a Corsair AX series that is almost 11 years old. Still 91% efficient.

PSU is probably the most consistently long-term-reliable component in a computer. They can last a decade or longer. You're fine.

RTX 3080 electronics due their high power consumption, it will decrease any NEW PSU life-cycle to warranty period or less.
When a used PSU this is up to the task to feed RTX 3080 needs, in this case we are unable to offer any longevity predictions.

For some one with a used PSU the RTX3060, this is a more wise choice.

You are perfectly fine. My dad has a corsair 750 from 2008 still going fine

It's EVGA last Superflower OEM PSU's. Very good except an OCP issue that is ultra rare occurance. It's better than the newer EVGA PSU. Seasonic/Superflower are rated the top two PSU maker out there.

It sure is!
I have a 9 year old TX750V2 with my RTX3080 and its working perfectly. Could surely keep on using it but, I've been meaning to change it for a a few months now but there's a crappy PSU shortage in my country.

Point is, you're more than fine with that PSU for 5 more years easy.

yes - i would use that- I bought a 10 year old Antec. today - i did this today. Because a 10 year old Antec is better than a new PSU. ( dollar for dollar ) I will get it soon - post - results - . ( might be 12 years old .... ) i will let you know - a _outrageously_expensive_unit from by gone days
