I will rerun with fsr ultra perf. I will also adjust dome voltages in bios to check.
I tried and made no difference. Expo 6000 gave me 10fps lower avg and lows. Hmm, maybe my custom windows ghost spectre 11 24h2 is the issue?

@domdtxdissar Flashed back to 1.2.0.2a and retested. Getting the same WinRAR and 7-zip results as 1.2.0.2, within margin of error. Also retested my 9700X...that is still showing a performance deficit with the new firmware.

Edit: I may have been using too much VDDG when I originally tested 1.2.0.2a which could have caused performance issues.

Anyway, something seems to be wrong with my 9800X3D or my board. At stock it's getting clock watchdog timeouts simply by opening CPU-Z and letting it poll clocks on the main tab. Same thing happened to my 9700X on this board when I set the LLC to the highest droop setting, but it's doing this on the default value with the 9800X3D.

Oddly enough it's stable in Hina BKT Corecyler, and pretty much everything except idling in CPU-Z, down to -40 CO at +200MHz boost offset.

so the expectation of flipped 3D cache will add latency.
Latency is exactly where I would expect it to be with pre-1.2.0.2a firmware. All the X3D parts going back to Vermeer-X have four cycles more L3 latency simply because the L3 is larger and this also results in slightly more main memory latency.

I'm not sure what they did with 1.2.0.2a that is causing AIDA to report higher latency, but this firmware causes that even on the non-X3D parts. Indeed, it's worse on the non-X3D parts.

AIDA64's latency goes up ~6.5ns on my 9800X3D with 1.2.0.2a, but almost 9ns on my 9700X. It also actually hurts real-world performance on my 9700X, while seeming to only hurt certain synthetic latency benchmarks on the 9800X3D.

I had speculated that they added some buffering/delay to make it possible to achieve the same FCLK on the 9800X3D, but that doesn't seem to be the case either. My sample has exactly the same maximum FCLK irrespective of firmware.

So should I roll back to 1.2.0.2 AGESA or just keep 1.2.0.2a?

To the person that asked for idle temps and cooling, Cooler Master ML240 Atmos + Prolimatech PK-3 paste, PBO +200, eCLK 103.25, no CO, W10 Pro 22H2, balanced power plan. Idle power between 18 and 23w, temps about 8c above ambient (26-28c in a 20c room).

Keep 1.2.0.2a, unless you have a good reason to roll back. Only certain synthetic tests appear to be any worse.

This thread was started merely as a front to justify the reassembly of the gang as we lay plans for the 5090 launch 🚀

best place for buying and selling imo is r/hardwareswap

btw it’s looking like the 9950x3d and 5090 could be launching simultaneously in the new year. Better save up that Christmas cash
That's right. hynix -Bdie cudimm too.

I can't get the 7800X3D kit stable on 9800X3D, how bizarre. Maybe need to wait a bit for better BIOSes.
Also, the B650E Tachyon is vaporware, no?

Nice to see I'm not alone with my issues, kind of hard to know what is a bug/anomality and what is a tuner error when you're this new to a platform.

@Blameless
I have the exact same issue with CPU-Z, AND the new AGESA. I updated BIOS last night and lost a big chunk (4-5%!) of performance in Factorio benchmark that I've been running. Spent a good while trying to figure it out and no amount of tweaking brought it back, flashed back to non-a version it's back to normal.

After spending last night + this morning troubleshooting, I was finally able to tweak, and get some small progress. Now matching my record score with 14900KS.

5750Mhz + 6600 CL28

thats pretty fast for 1:1 config it will be shocking if you get 6800 in 1:1 i highly doubt that but you can puch for 8000mt+ i think its the best you can get over 1:1
I did test 8300C34 and it was 10+ FPS slower than 6600C26/2200 in Cyberpunk 1080P Low built in benchmark.

wow did you increase fclk with 8300cl34? from what i understand 8000mt is perfect because fclk and mem controller are in sync somehow and thats should be better ? , can you test 8000mt with 2000fclk or increase fclk with 8300 config and test , also can you show me your result with cyberpunk am interested

That was running 8300/2200 but yeah I can test 8000/2000.

my 111 SP 9800X3D doesnt do more than 8200 in YC... and thats with M-die.
Mine also doesn't want to do YC on A-die 8000 IF 2200 at any voltage. Damn, I don't know what's going on. It's weird.
Imprezzion
Does your 8000 IF 2200 kit pass the YC test on benchmate 0.8.5? My computer freezes in this test, and for example TM5 Pcdestroyer will do it on VSOC 0.93v

Haven't tried but I haven't been able to get A-Die 8000 stable fully either on this chip, at least not on 1.2.0.2a BIOS. It will run for quite a while (10-15m+) in TM5 Anta / 1usmus without errors but will eventually start erroring out regardless of timings and voltages so yeah.. more testing to be done.

I did however find out 5650 all core (eclk 104.15) is pretty doable on this chip. CoreCycler (prime95 version) is on iteration 3 now so like 1h45m on 5650 and it's still pretty happy so far.
It also has no problems running y-cruncher benches (0-1-8) in several different configs (kizuna, kagari, komari) so.. should be fine? Of course it doesn't fully boost to 5650 in these benches, there's no -CO at all, but it runs games fine and that's why I was using CoreCycler as that does test per core at full frequency.
