Yeah, figured as much. Think I might just keep the card and see what the market is like in the future. Wish I could find another of those damn waterblocks for it though.
I also decided to not go for the 3090 Ti in question because of the above and: do I really want to spend 4090 money on a almost 3 year old card?
The regular 3090 Kingpin Hydro Copper will absolutely smash a 3090Ti Kingpin AIO. Mine was on chilled 15c water daily with TONS of water flow running through it, I ran it at 2.3Ghz and 23.5Gbps on the GDDR6X, and there was no overclocked 3090Ti faster than it was I can assure you, I owned the 3090KP Hydrocopper for over 2 years of constant daily usage. The memory on the backside is a non issue either, I’d gladly take GDDR6X on the backside, I used an Optimus Fujipoly full coverage 3mm thick soft thermal pad underneath its back plate, this pad covers the entire PCB of the GPU, and with no active cooling at all on my 3090KP the backside memory never went past 25-30c range even with extra voltage and high overclocks, I remember specifically the back of my 3090KP on my test bench without fans would reach 38C right on the GPU area on the backplate, my Tjunction was like 50 something. Even guys with 3090Ti’s and double block active cooling on both sides could not compete 😀 with how well that Fuji full cover pad worked. I swear by it. And since regular 3090’s are dual rank in how their memory IC’s are organized with GDDR6X sandwiched on both sides, l there is actually a performance advantage to it, making any memory OC advantage with a 3090Ti non existent.
Also, the 3090Ti’s memory is sensitive to low temps just like 4090’s. So I see ZERO, I mean absolutely ZERO point in getting a 3090Ti Kingpin over a 3090 Kingpin. The 3090KP bone stock is already faster than 99% of the 3090Ti’s available. (Thanks to the high default power limits of course similar to that of a 3090Ti) and once you add in overclocking, it’s all over…
The default 520W Rebar 3090KP LN2 bios is all you need for 90% of people, it’s only when you are 4K gaming and or using Kingpin tool that we may need the 1KW Kingpin XOC ReBar bios.
