I get a little sick when I play HL2 and have searched for a remedy. I'm pretty sure its the funky fov, and I've heard about changing it in-game, but I wanna know if you can change this in the config file so that you don't have to change it everytime you start to play.

you can make a autoexec.cfg and put the FOV command in it then put it in the same folder as the config.cfg, I believe.

Just open notepad and when you are asked to save just type "autoexec.cfg"

I don't know what the command is though, and I doubt that is the problem. Never heard of the FOV changing in HL2

fov [angle] - Specifies the character's Field of View (fov), i.e. the total angle which can be viewed at once. Default is 75, higher values create more of a 'fish-eyed' view, lower angles create a zoomed view.

default_fov [angle] - Determines the default Field of View. Normal default is 75 (cheat).

I got that from tweak guides in case someone else is looking for a solution like I was.
Does the default_fov command mean it'll stay that way forever?

I've heard of FOV issues with BF2 and Bioshock and there are a couple programs out there to fix that, but not with CS:S.

Are you sure you aren't mixing up Field of View with Frame per Second? You said FPS in your second post.

FOV doesn't make you sick, unless you are claustrophobic. Playing with 30 fps can hurt your eyes and make you sick. 100 is ideal for smoothness and registration.

If you have over 60, I think the game is just making you sick.
