6600/2200 is still impossible for me. It's just too unstable. It just spits 100's of errors in TM5 1usmus only 0 and 6 errors. It's 100% vSOC, MCLK and FCLK related. If I drop FCLK from 2200 to 2000 it's fine and if I drop MCLK to 2000 (by using 8000 2:1) and use 2200 FCLK it's also fine but combined 6600/2200 is just completely unstable. I need vSOC 1.30 for 6600, it just can't be any less otherwise it won't do that high MCLK. 6400 already needs 1.235 minimum. But 2200 FCLK can't run at 1.30 vSOC whatsoever on my chip.

I assume there's no way to fix it?

I did try BCLK OC coming from 6400/2133 to see how far I could get it stable. With BCLK it tops out around 2176 FCLK with 6528 memory. Anything above that immediately gets unstable in TM5.

I do technically have access to another 9800X3D.. my friend bought one but doesn't have the rest of his components yet as he wants to redo his hardline setup so we're still debating which motherboard and monoblock or mycro direct die or whatever so his CPU I could maybe borrow for a short test / bin vs my own..

I'm through 8x 9800x3d, just 2 could do 6600 with little time invested, one at 1.25 vsoc, other at 1.28. Same 0 and 6 errors and many other errors on the rest, some just insta crashed or didn't even boot with 1.3 vsoc 6600. All could do 6400/2200 though with 1.25vsoc I believe but didn't run them long enough to verify

Thanks for this, was starting to get some 6600-FOMO since my chip can't even boot 3300. If it's fairly uncommon, not going to bother rolling the dice again.

Kinda annoying, cause it's a good sweet spot for my sticks too. 6600 CL26 is easy, but 6400 CL24 won't even boot.

I thought the same since ltmatt has 3 and 2 of them do 6600 I believe(?) and I thought I was going crazy or bad mobo or my older 6800 a die was just that bad, especially cuz tm5 mainly throws low voltage mem errors even with 1.6+ vdd

If I remember correctly you can to a degree overcome the soc vs fclk-issue by running really low temps so delid and good cooling may make 6600\2200 more viable?

He always does that which is why I never believe him. Although of the games I've tested, his 14900ks results were in line with what I see on my machine in a daily stable type config.

You could easily beat his numbers by doing bench stable type clocks of course.

I'm absolutely not advocating anything Jufus does as I see him as a scammer, but just that this video looked reasonable from my side of the fence (RPL).
His RPL-tuning is quite good, but others do better. His Ryzentuning is either terrible or he has unstable fclk which typically appear stable in adia etc, but can cause massive framedrops\stuttering due to errorcorrection kicking in. If he had used linpack og Ycruncher he could have sorted it out. I bet he runs 6400 at 1.3v soc and try 2200 fclk which often is problematic above 1.2v soc. It can work, but for me I can`t go above 1.25v soc if I use 2200fclk.

Seems to be true for me. I have been running cold water since day 1, and honestly tuning 1:1 has been a joke for me. My first boot was 6400/2133 with auto voltages, then I set 2200 FLCK and that ran too. I can literally set the voltages almost any way I wish, and 3200/2200 will run 100% clean. I pretty much spent a whole day trying every voltage combo to safe limits and beyond, and NOTHING will make this chip even boot 3300 or 2233 @ 2C water.

Temps shouldn't matter that much for my chip as the errors come instantly in 5 seconds and it definitely hasn't warmed up by that point. It's like barely 50c on the CPU (I tested with CPU at just 5250 no fMax and CO -30 to keep it as cool as possible) and the DIMM's are like 24c so..

If my buddy will let me abuse his 9800X3D I at least have a second sample to try hehe.

My friends would never let me "test" their CPU - and for good reason 🤣

here's your CPU back bro

(Never even killed one in reality, except for a deliberate suicide run on an E5200, but my friends are racist towards CPU-abuse-enjoyers)

Well, after I unalived a 7800X3D he doesn't want me to abuse it. Nah, it's not because he doesn't trust me with it but if his build planning takes long enough for 9950X3D to release in the meanwhile he wants to keep this one sealed for easier reselling. Understandable.

I never deathded any older stuff, not even my 2500K that's still alive after running 5.3 @ 1.575v for like 7 years. I did degrade a 10900K really bad and the 7800X3D and some motherboards here and there. Oh and I spectacularly blew up a 780 Ti VRM with a sliiiight bit too much voltage. BIOS editors and me don't get along. Hehe.

Nothing more stupid than selling an amd motherboard and someone emailing you to say has it been used for overclocking?

Hehe. Nah I'm selling a Maximus XII Hero, 32GB 3600C16 B-Die and a 10900KF with a full custom loop because it's never been overclocked. Only stock. I know what I got.

On a serious note, I just had a look if I can get new 9800X3D's here locally or even 1 or 2 countries over. No. I can't. Only 1 shop has stock but they ask €649 which is just beyond scalping at that point.. so no binning for me at the moment.

Yeah, its sad to see pc retailers selling above msrp to further their profits. I remember paying like £380 for my 980ti hybrid, i miss those times.

wow, 1.6 VDD x VDDQ :) isn't that a little too high for daily for MDie?

Try colder, 28C max temp.

Would be fun for a test but isn't sustainable in daily usage so not much point to that.

I might do something dumb tho.. combine BCLK with eCLK.. don't even know if it's possible lol. 6528C26 2176 FCLK with BCLK 102.00 and add 104.25 eCLK on top of that for the CPU... If it's stupid but it works it ain't stupid..

Nah, it should be just fine. I ran my first gen m-die one and a half year straight with 1.67 dimmer. Still running like a champ today in secondary rig
