If you set VDD higher than 1.44V, the board will set VDDQ to 1.44V, it doesn't allow for a lower value.
So if you set VDD 1.6 VDDQ 1.4, the board will set VDDQ to 1.44. If you set VDD 1.6 VDDQ 1.5, VDDQ will be 1.5.

And if you're below 1.44 VDD you can set lower VDDQ, so the board will accept 1.4/1.25. I recall there was a post somewhere explaining the logic behind this, but I don't like it either.

I bought the Taichi Lite, it's only 30€ more than the Nova in my country. Might as well. I agree the full Taichi is probably not worth it, but so is the ROG HERO board for 670€ and people are buying it.

e: So I tried to find some info about the BCLK generator on the Taichi, but I find surprisingly little. Question: Can you increase BCLK for the CPU only, without it affecting the PCIe and other subsystems?
the lite addition is welcome since you you get the core value of a taichi with just less bling bling stuff so it’s the way to go for real men

the bclk is in syncro with a lot pf other stuff and wont allow you much headroom…that’s why eclk has been invented for

Hi - sorry for the noob post but I'm having a bit of a fail.

My 9800X3D is getting super toasty super quickly.... idling at 60 degrees and getting up to 95 within seconds of a CPU-Z bench. This can't be right...

I'm using the Nova board, with a Noctua DH-15 Gen 2.

Is there anything the board could be doing to that's causing this? I wouldn't have thought bad CPU mounting would cause a leap of over 30 degrees in seconds... but re-pasting is my plan of first attack.

Any other ideas...? Thanks in advance.

I've ordered one of them offset mounting things to better cool the Ryzen.

So I was unsure if a big Noctua cooler would fit with the GPU and decided to look into the ATX standard.

The first expansion slot is in the middle of the board, which also happens to have a screw hole, the one right below the IO shield. If you look at the Taichi Lite:

They skipped the first two slots. So I am hopeful that it will fit. Also if you're curious theres,.800 inch betwen the slots, which is 2.03cm, so it's quite some space you gain. Since the boards barely have any slots anyway I think that is a smart thing to do.

I'm emailing ASROCK support about getting a modded BIOS that doesn't have the 1.44v VDDQ bug. I might not be able to share it, but if they make one, you can call support phone number and request it, they'll forward your request to the support team.

What you are referring to is asynchronous BCLK, and yes the Taichis have that (even the prev gen x670e one too). Asrock calls that feature "ASRock Hyper BCLK Engine"

You don't need to second guess yourself, Noctua has compatibility lists for their coolers. Go check their website for yours in particular...

VDDQ is 1.4v, not 1.44v.
VDDGs 1.1v/1.0v.
VDDGs really help a ton getting better timings stable, it won't even boot properly without them set at that.
Oh, I think ProcODT Pd is 40, I need to check that.

Im looking into buying the x870e Taichi. How is the board and can it do stable 8000+ on the Memory? Running a Asrock b650m HDV at the moment. But i want to eclk the 9800x3d, thats why i want to switch to x870e Taichi.

I also see that the eclk option on this board will also eclk the memory. Cpu and memory is this true? Someone on YouTube showed the bios option.

Is the BLCK options both if you choose only the option with one spread spectrum enabled you overclock both CPU and memory, if you choose the second option with both spread spectrums enabled, it overclocks just the memory, right? I'm unclear about all that.

@KedarWolf about 2 weeks ago we at Luxx wrote directly to ASRock about this - a guy who has a dealership and contacts. He wrote several tmes, but they rejected. I think, the more people write, the sooner the will do it.
About the 1.44v VDDQ?

Edit: ASROCK in the past were great about modding BIOS's and stuff, now, I don't know. I've had ASROCK boards in the past and they used to be awesome.

View attachment 2682973 Anyone tested it? Seems like on Asus there no way to only do eclk on CPU?
I'll check HWInfo and CPU-Z when I get home. I have a mild overclock using the second option but nothing changes in Zen Timings. My benchmarks a bit quicker though.
