Upgraded to F16 and XMP1 profile makes the BIOS hang... downgraded back to F15 where this was working fine.
I was using DDR booster, and it totally ruined the settings and drove up latency. I have to try to configure manually. Luckily, I took a screenshot of settings. I was running a 8200mhz kit at, 8600mhz. Time to learn memory overclocking I guess.

Not here (using XMP 1 or 2). I updated to F16 last night. What board do you have? I have the Z890 Aorus Xtreme.

BTW, I have to use XMP 1 cause 2 pushes my ram too high and hard crashes my system. I'm running 64gig of Corsair Dominator Titanium RAM rated 6400MHz. XMP 2 pushes it to 6600MHz and that's were my hard locks occur.

So yeah, no issues here with XMP 1
You may just have to bump up VDDQ and VDD2 voltages by 0.5v to get stable, depending what your defaults are.

Hello,

what bios are you talking about ?
The Master one from the 12th of March ? F16 ?

When installing it it gives microcode 0x0116 in bios and you can swap it to 0x0113 on my board.
Thanks
Hmm. I just installed last night. The page says 0x0117. I went with current/default and didnt check.

How do you go about going that?

I have CUDIMMs (48G at 8400). Only the XMP 1 profile configures it at that and it doesn't work with F16. Tried couple of things but always ended up hanging in the BIOS (did not check post code). Went back to F15 because I do not have a real problem with that version and there is works fine.

//edit: cheap one: wifi 7 or so

Try setting these - save-exit-re-enter bios and then try your XMP profile.

CPU VDDQ = at least 1.5v
VccIO = should be able to leave auto, but can bump to 1.35v
VccClk = should be able to leave auto, but can bump to 1.35v
CPU VDD2 = 1.57v.

CPU System Agent = 1.45v

I swear, they broke RAM in F16

F16 still shuts off when sleeping.

I have resubmitted a request to have it fixed. Also asked why the XMP/DDR is not working the same. You have to "ask a question" here

There is a drop down on the Tweaker tab I think - so you can select micro-code versions.
Found it - Select MCU. Thanks. Yeah, mine is either 0x113 or Auto (116). I have mine set to Auto. New to this so any idea which provides the better performance? Or is this about something else?

Thus far, no issues after a clean install and BIOS update to F16, but it's only been a couple of days so.... and mine was random so....

BTW, I think I found my hard crash issue. I was pushing my RAM above spec (pushing to 6600MHz vs 6400MHz). Settling on 6400, I can now run Intel Default Settings - Performance. Thus far no hard locks and even got a good score from 3DMark's Time Spy - 25,866. Was only getting around 25,450.

The micro-code is supposed to provide better performance. I believe it is Intel that supplies, but board manufacturers tweak for their boards to work with Intel Management Engine. So you will see people in this and the other threads talk about ME - that's the Management Engine. It is the code & engine that has the instructions on how to utilize cores in Windows/Linux etc. i.e. optimize P & E-cores for games etc. It apparently can affect memory latency.

25,866 Overall or CPU score? I have only been able to top at 23095 CPU score. 41387 overall with a 5090 and 21812 overall with a 3090. The cpu score for Time Spy is the best indicator for how your cpu, ram and overclock is doing.

Thank you, I might give that a try.
The above values are CPU voltages - if you go to the Dram Voltages section in the bios you can set the VDDQ/VDD2 for the ram directly (default is auto). So if your kit says 1.45v, but you are not stable, you can try to set to 1.5v or 1.55v depending.

You may have to try both, depending on post, bsods, memory errors.

Thanks, I get IME, I was just wondering if there was any noticeable performance boosts. Was curious.

System specs in my sig :)

All I did was update BIOS to F16, set XMP to my RAM speed, and moved Intel Defaults to Performance. I honestly feel like I should be getting 2600.

Nice. The 7900 XT is an underrated beast. The 18257 cpu score is about average for a 285K without overclocking.

If you set your E-cores to 50 @ 2.45v adaptive and leave P-cores auto (which is what I have) you can hit +23000. With your 7900xt you should be able to break 26500 to 27000 overall.

I will try to take pics of the bios configuration to do so. If you use XTU, you can try out without doing directly in bios.

Hello,

I’ve got a weird issue. I’m trying to setup all voltages before overclocking.
I do Optimized settings, save, reboot, then NGU, D2D….

When I get to the VDD2 value, if I put 1.45, the system doesn’t boot.

I don’t understand why.

There is no OC, no XMP.
