I have the Samsung 2693HM. However, to me, the HP looks like it has the better color contrast due to the glossy screen. I evaluated the HP and the 2493HM as well. I would have gone with the HP if it wasn't for the lack of inputs and reviews from people complaining of slight input lag.

The samsung has great quality. I use one at work for 3d rendering. Looks great. I cant speak for the Viewsonic but I have seen the HP in the store and it just doesnt look as good. Maybe it is the really glossy screen. THe samsungs screen is not but the cabinet is glossy. It looks great. The HDMI is a plus also. The Viewsonic may be a better quality because of the increased price and im not sure about what panel it is either. For under $500 the samsung is best.

I think im gonna go w/the samsung my question is that if i use the HDMI input on it will that also carry the sound to monitors spreakers? it should right cuz well that is the whole point behind HDMI.

i have the HP, and it is great. The portait/landscape turning is kind of annoying. It has an HDMI port, but no DVI. The 360 looks nice on it, although I got some artifacting on it the other day when playing GTA on it. Yes it does carry the audio to the monitor. On the HP you can bring sound in through the HDMI and then there is an audio out port on the monitor to send it to some nice speakers.
