I/O error trying to read new bios

i finally got into nvflash, brings up menue but when i put in my command line it says i/o error cannot open file any suggestions?

I had the same problem modding my 8800GTX.

It just fixed itself after awhile.

Make sure you're telling it the right file. Make sure the file is on the disk. I'm not being facetious, I just had that problem and those were my mistakes.

im positive the file is in there i did a dir
i renamed the rom to 1.rom

Did you input "nvflash -5 -6 1.rom"?

EDIT: When I changed the name of the .rom file after I saved it I had problems flashing with it. When I used it with the name I saved it as the problem seemed to vanish.

no i did not i put in -4 -5 -6 1.rom

When I did it I used the "nvflash -5 -6 1.rom", i don't know why, but maybe that will make a difference.

tried that went through then got eeprom not found...
so you think i should just use the name it downloaded with?

Try modding the bios again and save as 1.rom, then try. What are you using? Floppy, usb?

Ahh... was the .rom file labeled this? EVGA.9800GT.SC.PCIe.512MB.Rev.01.rom?

well i have two cards they both are identical cards but one has differetn bios, im trying to get both cards to have matching bios. they are 62.92.23.00.51 and 62.92.1f.00.51 he first of the two is ok and up to date but the sec is not.

my rom file red pny.8800gt.pcie.512mb.rev.04.rom

Okay, now I can't guarantee that this is an awesome idea, but you could back up the bios off of the card with the bios you want and then flash them onto the card you want to update.

its the exact same bios that i dled, same numbers and everything.i just dont know why its not reading the bios file... in nvflash it starts to but come with the error

pny.8800gt.pcie.512mb.rev.04.rom, did you rename it from this? If you didn't you would have to put "nvflash -5 -6 pny.8800gt.pcie.512mb.rev.04.rom"

i tried running it like that when i couldnt run it with the renamed one

Download it again and try it how it comes. If that doesn't work, then my limited knowledge probably can't help.
