If you have your memory overclocked, and you run MemTest (the DOS-based version) overnight with no errors whatsoever, does that mean that your memory will be stable in Windows, or could it still be unstable?
I had my system completely stable at 4.00GHz (Q9550) 471x8.5, memory 1:1 471MHz 5-4-4-15-26-2T @ 2.1V. I have had my memory stable at the exact same settings except 478MHz before previously (when running 1:1 w/ my 4.3GHz E8400 478x9).
I tried overclocking my CPU some more, but my board just couldn't handle the extra FSB. I have reset the CMOS, and reset everything back to my previous overclock, which was able to run IBT on "high" for 20 passes, OCCT for 2 hours, Prime95 for 6 hours on blend and small FFT, and MemTest overnight for 8 hours, no problems. The only problem is I didn't save my settings to a profile, so I'm doing this from memory. I'm sure on all settings except for GTLVREF. I have those manually tweaked, but I'm not sure they're the exact same settings.
Now I'm trying to overclock my memory a bit. I'm trying for 500MHz (DDR2-1000) 5-5-5-15-30-2T @ 2.2V (also tried 5-5-5-18), and it is able to run MemTest overnight with no problems whatsoever. However, when I try to run IBT on standard settings it doesn't last 5 passes before freezing up. Now it did the same thing before whenever I needed more FSB voltage, but I've also noticed when overclocking previously, that 9 times out of 10, complete freeze ups are usually unstable RAM.
So can MemTest have no errors, but your RAM is still unstable? Any input?
Thanks!
