Will a GPU's fan wear out if manually controlled to a higher RPM?

I want to OC my 5750 just wondering is there any negative effects aside from sound that is going to happen like my card's fan to quickly die?

Might make a thread with oced results and benchmarks for my 5750 since 5750 users are a minority here

It might help people make a decision between a 5750 and a 5770.

Fan motor's last a certain time, not depending on how fast they're going from my understanding.

So there is no worries about it running at 60% all the time?

At worst you might need to re-lube your fan ball bearings with a suitable oil....which is an easy procedure normally a wee hole under the sticker or on the back of the fan(s)....I would be interested to see your OC results as am lookin to upgrade from what i already got very soon...

I wouldn't worry about wearing out your fan. The main problem with upping the fan speed is noise. If anything running fan at higher rpm is better, because it keeps your core temps down. I have had more problems with dust gunking them up than I have running fans at higher rpm. Would guess that the fans can run at %100 for a few years before dying. If it does die within the warranty of the card, just RMA it.

Hmmm i havent had any GPU RMAed yet, i hope this one does not die within 2 years

I am setting up my fan speed to 60%. it keeps my card cool under OCed settings. I mean around 70C which just the same with the fan set automatically and no OC.

Yeah I did my first GPU RMA recently, pretty painless aside from being without the card for 3 weeks. Sapphire is not bad. Like I said I have had more problems with dust. Just keep it clean and enjoy.

I try to find a happy medium of low temps and noise with fan speed... MSI Afterburner is a great program. It will set your fan to run at any speed you like and adjust the speed as the temps go up as well.

You should definitely post some benches of your 5750 to give everyone an idea of its performance.

or you can after cool it(accelero r1 S2 and keep it under 60c oced in fur with a 1200RPM fan)

Higher fan speed will wear out the motor faster, but it should still take quite a while for the fan to stop working.

You should be fine. By the time it would even actually have an effect from running at a constant speed, you would definitely need to upgrade anyway.

Don't worry it'll eventually lock up, overvolt and knock out the entire pci-express bus in one nuclear explosion. If it starts squeeling or squeeking don't just be annoyed. REPLACE IT.

Well is there a program with an automatic setting where i can set it at 36% idle and 60% load? With this setting i will have no problems with fans speed.

Manually setting it every time is quite a hassle thanks
