blur busters review:

it was a fully functioning product over a year ago when linus got it. Even though his got damaged during shipping. And zisworks has improved it much since then. This product is for tinkerers, and people comfortable with things like this, it wont be for everyone.

The NEWS is that its for sale now.

Linus Tech Tips review
(this video is old, the product has come a long way and his unit was damaged during shipping)

Theyve gotten together a proper housing for the back now and worked all the bugs out. Zisworks recently made an announcement.

heres a newer version:

how is this news?
both of your links are from last year
I looked into it and you have to buy panels from some no-name
it even says engineering sample not for home use

the guy recently posted in linus tech tips, saying that theyre actually shipping out the product now (within the last few months). And its the ONLY 120hz 4k monitor available, so its a big deal. Especially since its not being talked about anywhere, havent seen anything posted about it in hardware news. So , for all the people waiting for 120hz, 4k, its news. Last year the product wasnt ready to ship, and now it is.

also referring to someone as a "noname" is pretty silly. Considering everyone was a no-name at one time.

And whats with the argument against engineering samples? People run engineering samples all the time, its just a disclaimer, in case someone was expecting a fully finished , fleshed out product. This isnt for everyone, but there are people who will find it interesting.

It fits perfectly under the topic "hardware news"

Just because its not a product youd buy, doesnt mean noone else is interested.

i'm saying no-name as in the panels themselves...not LG, not sony, not samsung

sorry still not news, please post a recent article or video....all you've shared so far are old reviews which supposedly aren't even representative of the current stage and a link to purchase the product labeled as ES...as in oops you might see lotsa bugs in your product. Please follow OCN rules...expect this to be moved to the monitor sub-forum

doesnt look like youre a moderator, i checked the rules, im not breaking any of them, the only "old" thing i posted was an EXAMPLE of the product by linus. The product was only recently put up for sale, and it being an engineering sample has nothing to do with whether its news or not. Its hardware news: you can buy a 120hz 4k monitor. many people dont know that. Even if its an ES, which, again, TONS of people use ES products every day, that doesnt make the post any less valid.

The NEWS is that is is NOW for sale. Whereas before it was not.

I got his X39 kit.... been using it about a month and 4k120hz @39" is a work productivity dream come true!

The X39 kit packaging was hilarious though.....he used an inverted cheerios box rofl

thats amazing to hear. I was wondering about his conversion kits. which panel did you use the x39 kit on?

also yea the cheerios box thing is pretty funny. But it is a small scale operation, so not super surprising.

have you tried gaming at 120hz on it?

yep thats pretty plainly out in the open when you go to the sale page. As I said before: its not going to be for everyone. I made no attempt to hide that or convince otherwise.

also: it was a fully functioning product over a year ago when linus got it. Even though his got damaged during shipping. And zisworks has improved it much since then. All those disclaimers are because hes such a small operation, and wants to cover his behind. This product is for tinkerers, and people comfortable with things like this, it wont be for everyone.

i remember the seiki 4k30 was a $400 wayy back in like 2014? basically unheard of as I believe the next cheapest 4K was at least 2-3x that
good for you guys for making your dollar stretch so far to enable 120hz on it now...surprised to hear it works well as a monitor?

I was interested in the kit last year until I heard none of the versions were going to have overdrive circuits for the LCD panels. 120 Hz LCD without overdrive = Bllluuuuuuuurrrrr city. It's basically a larger version of the Korean Catleaps from years ago. Without the sexy gloss!

At least on the 28'' TN version there is no increased ghosting at higher refresh rates.
There is a clear motion clarity improvement between 240Hz and 480Hz on the blurbusters sample. There is slight ghosting trail following the UFO at all refresh rates, even lower ones, which is due to lack of overdrive.
I'd assume 39'' MVA panel won't fare as well though.
