Anyone go from a 5600X to a 5800X3D? I have a buddy of mine who said the biggest difference he noticed was that some games felt smoother but other than that nothing else much changed. Curious what your experience has been if you came from a 5600X/5700X/5800X and moved to a 5800X3D.

Also... Anyone here own both a 5800X3D and a 13th gen Intel? Curious what real world performance feels like for you.

benchmarks are benchmarks but I like to hear about real world experiences especially with a unique chip like the 5800X3D.

Had a 5600x. In some games I get a 10-30% improvement in avg/1%low scores @1080p. Escape from Tarkov for ex is around 30% faster, I'm locked to 144 FPS most of the time whereas my friend with the same GPU and 5600x dips below 100 fps often.

I think i solved the issues guys. Fingers crossed. Seems finally stable on 1900fclk with 1.050vsoc 0.980/940 vddg iod/ccd and around 0.920 vddp. Also bumped pll to 1.830v. Trfc on mem up to 280. So far no errors and feels very smooth in games.

ps. To the one asking about comparing with intel, a friend has 13900k at stock and same gpu as me and we have very similair results in many games. It even feels better on my setup many times. 5800x3d in gaming is really good.

Are you sure this application error related to the overclock? I have 5800x3d -30 all, stock xmp rams. And I have full error of these application error on event viewer. What should I do?

It seems so. I've fixed it looks like on day2 now without anymore of those. I had full of weird things going on in event viewer administrator custom section, new things would show up alot. I seem to now tuned in correct vsoc, vddg, vddp and pll settings. As well as raising trfc to 280. After this new entries seem to completely stop, not a lot more warnings or any errors pop up. Before I would get random error when I closed chrome for example, although it didn't crash. It almost surely a sign something isnt correct in your system. Preferably you should tune your voltages and maybe even run sfc scannow and dism online restore health.

while tuning the voltages helped the smoothness in games, I'd say increasing tRFC is what alleviated the errors you were getting

came from a 5800X. Biggest difference was smoothness at high framerates (5-30fps increase 1% lows @ 1440p, depending on the game) + more consistent frametimes. The X3D is really only worth the upgrade if you play on a high refresh rate monitor.

@Peanuts4 I personally went from a 3800X to a 5800X to the X3D and the X3D was the biggest improvement in my scenario with gaming.

There is a CapFrameX analysis showing a 13700K with a 3070 in a 1v1 match on Erase in UT4 and for comparison I ran a single player test in Erase and the results were very similar vs my 5800X3D and 6900XT. It's not an apples to apples comparison but it's relatively close.

I came from a 11900K @ 5.2 all core and this thing destroys it with a OC'ed 385w 3090 as a GPU and the same RAM. Almost 30fps more in Division 2 benchmark, way smoother 1% lows in every game, Cyberpunk picked up massively as well and no other game runs any worse, even games that don't really benefit from the 3d vcache.

Can it beat a properly tuned 13700/13900K? No. It can't. However, it sips like 65-80w of power while a tuned 13900K easily does 150-180w in games for like 5% more performance at best. So yeah, performance per watt is absolutely unbeatable. And you don't need expensive DDR5. DDR4 on 13th gen completely negates the performance increase.

No more application errors, the ram trfc setting totally fixed it however to my sad eyes, after almost whole 2 days of no WHEA, I just spotted again a random one recoverable error when I checked a minute ago. Now increasing slightly the voltages, going for PLL(1.8v) 1.835V, and VSOC 1.056V. Is there anything else that can help stabilize 1900FCLK? It's also impossible to quickly test this. None of the core cycler\Y-cruncher \ OCCT tests show it. It just happens randomly, mostly when PC has been idle for a bit or on a very cold start.

Guys, quick question (I must decide today)

I'm looking to upgrade RAM (from 2x8gb to 2x16gb)
I can get for the same price TridentZ Neo 3600CL16 or 4000CL18 (I can't afford anything higher).
I know they might be the exact same modules (non of them B-Die), but I wanted to know your findings.
Is it possible to run 4000 XMP profile with 1/1/1 FLCK,IFCLK/MEMCLK or is not very likely on our beloved cpu?

Regards and thanks in advance!!!

It's very unlikely to run at 1:1:1, but anything above 1800 has almost no performance improvement in games.

Thanks Frosted, I guess, the price being the same, its equal to buy 4000CL18 and used it as 3600CL16 that buying 3600CL16 straight.
The 2 kit models are => F4-4000C18D-32GTZN and F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC
GTZNC usually have cheap low-end binned IC's. Definitely not B-Die or whatever. The 4000's might actually be a pretty good Micron Rev E or Hynix CJR bin. I'd get the 4000's. 100%.

have you tired just putting the SOC/VDDG/VDDP/PLL on auto?

Yes and that produces the same Whea on -30 1900 fclk, and awfully overvolts the vsoc. I think there still chance to somehow stabilize it, its very close. Just need to figure out what it wants.
Is your SOC voltage set to offset? Auto should be 1.1v

Not using offset, setting auto on my mobo does 1.187v or something like that. I am guessing it varies by mobo. Also other voltages get set pretty high. I've raise a tiny bit now and will see how it goes.
What are your VDDG's? You have a zentimings shot?
