The bottom-line:
If you want the rig to last a couple years:
Buy an Intel setup.
If you are willing to buy the newest tech every so often:
Buy an AMD setup.

Also, an Intel setup will cost more, but is useful for more than just games (video editing/encoding and other stuff).
