Its finally here. Affordable 4K. Though I haven't been able to find any pricing for it. If Linus says its much cheaper the the 34um95, I expect it to be in the 600 dollars range.

Cheaper then the pg278q and a higher resolution. Might have to think about this monitor instead.

 

It is supposed to start at $699 if i'm not mistaken.

Although i don't know how i feel about worrying about RMA'ing it to ASUS.

 

Just ordered that Samsung 4k , might get one of these also if they're any good.

On topic: I love my sammy 4k. Best monitor i've owned, and i've owned a bunch.

 

I've also been eyeing one of those huge Samsung 4k tv's for the living room also, now that would be fun lol.

Think I might have to get another 780ti to play with if I end up using both 4k monitors, one kingpin might not cut it lol.

You are gonna need to get a 6GB GTX 780 or Titans if you plan on 4K benching. Valley and whatnot choke hardcore @ 3GB.

So long as you adjust settings accordingly 1 Kinpin does fine with the Samsung monitor from my experience. VRAM isn't an issue either since you have no real need for AA.

even with some AA at 4k, 3gb is enough, people like to over do their estimations of how much vram is used though on these forums, if we actually listened to those people we would need cards with 5000gb vram just to play at 1080p on 10 year old games.

Oh, most all gaming is fine. Its just certain benchmarks will go over the 3GB vram limit. And I know you like benching . Just a forewarning in case you want to bench stuff like Valley/Heaven.

 

atm im just gaming till new nvidia cards and the 5960x release, kepler is boring to bench now

 

I'll just probably keep using my 770 until maxwell comes. Don't mind scaling back the resolution.

 

apparently this monitor retail is $650.

gonna be hard to not buy it but like i said it's a TN panel...not sure if i can go ips to tn regardless of the resolution

 

3GB is ok for 4k as long as you turn off AA. In BF4 I get 80+ fps in MP and SP with AA turned off. It's not really needed at this resolution IMO.

Also I'm assuming this is the same panel as the one on the Samsung? Bah wish I would've waited for this. The pivot, swivel, tilt, and stand are much better than the Samsung...and when I say better I mean THEY DON'T EXIST ON THE SAMMY

Kind of wish I would've waited for this one...although I could sell this one off and pick up the Asus...

 

i wouldn't even see a reason for msaa at 4k as well(that's just me). i don't use anything over 2 now if any at 1440 personally

yeah same panel. just says asus with a stand

 

Is it 278 or 287?? Amazon has it as 278.

I am desperate! Today again I had my finger on the order button for the Samsung model... it seams like every time I am about to order it, theres new news about the Asus model that make me think its only a week away... its been months now!

4k is great. But I have the Samsung model....wait for the Asus.

I'm not paranoid to the vram of my card, are enough even at this resolution. just do not overdo it with the AA filter.
then, at this resolution, you will get a very good quality, with a simple SMAA.

I waited 4 Months for Asus Rog, then 2 months for Samsung 4k, then another month and a half for Asus 4k.... my State of the art New PC is now almost outdated with out ever being used from all the waiting! Lol.
