I am looking for some very nice in ear headphones for mainly listening to music and the occasional movie watching with a budget of $300. Thanks in advance.

I don't know much people who amps their IEMs. IEMs are designed for portable low impedence use, can't imagine having to carry a portable amp around at the gym.

For IEMs, I like the sound of Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5 Extended Bass.

I use my In ears with my amp..but thats my Denon receiver and they sound. MUCH better than connected straight to my onboard. The highest end IEMs ive owned are the Denon AHS-551 and i really do like them. Much better than anything else ive tried, ive had the Shure E110's aswell and they suck compared to these. I like that the denons are solid aluminium and fit nicely provided you use the right tips, very good bass too.

I am really liking the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5 Extended Bass.(especially the price). I listen to mostly hip-hop,country, and rock. I was reading some reviews and they sound like they're pretty good for those genres. I currently leaning towards those, can someone who owns them or has listened to them. Give me a detailed description of what they think of them. Thanks in advance.

Ummm, any headphone/buds/IEM benefits from a amp. You think I haven't tried listening to my SuperFi 5pro through my amp? Difference is there but not as big as you mention it to be.

Besides your missing the whole point. IEMs are designed for mobility, activity and sound cancellation. You can't wear earbuds when jogging because they'll eventually fall out because the size and shape of our ears are different. IEMs remedy that.

Yes you can amp any type of headgear as you please but amping IEMs defeats the purpose and design, which is? Mobility and Activity. You may know people who sit in one place connected to amp using IEMs, but I've never seen professionals in my field who do.

My buddy is using the Extended Bass, I'm using the 5pro. Although the 5pro costs more I perfer the Extended Bass version.

I can tell you my experience with the 5pro. The 5pro is good for vocals, tracks with good mids and highs because of it's clear and crisp reproduction of those sounds. The 5pro lacks bass and I mean it really lacks bass. It's there if you intentionally listen for it but it's no where near what the Extended Bass has.

The only difference I spotted with the Extended Bass version is it lacks, just a little, in the mids and highs.

Since your purpose is mostly hip-hop,country, and rock I HIGHLY recommend the Extended Bass version, which is what I should've gotten in the first place.

You might as well tell him to get it on eBay.

Those are individual sellers who are selling it under $300 on Amazon. Who knows how their return policy is if there was a problem with the IEMs. They say you can exchange it but once your money is in their hands anything goes. I'd stick with a actual e-tailer.

Ok so I really like the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5 Extended Bass and the MOnster's. One i have is that i am really liking the price tag on them both, but am i losing quality too? Is there really that much difference between the 2, or is it easily to tell?

Buying Monster is like buying their cables. It's all advertising and overpriced.

I'd stick with Ultimate Ears, the celebrity's choice.

Why don't you check out other forums that specializes in IEMs like head-fi.org and ask for opinions there?

I'm sure your going to get much faster and more mature repsonses from a forum that only deals with headphones, IEMs, earbuds, etc.

Once again the idiotic blind Monster hate rings it's ugly head.
I like talking out my ass as much as the next guy, but objectively, there are amongst the best in the $100 range. Don't believe me, see the 37 page, 545 post thread about them on Head-fi.

That said, there are better within the $300 price range.

I really hate people talking out of their ass and hopping on the hate bandwagon of anything and not objectively judging stuff.

Judge the product, not what's it's labelled or associated with.

Below $300, the Shure SE530. Yes.

Read up on the Shure SE530.

Oh the irony of this (see above post for why).

Or for $30 more, the M-Audio IE-40 (OEM'ed UE Triple.fi 10).

$330 on Amazon.

So yeah, my recommendations for around this budget:

M-Audio IE-40
Shure SE530
Shure SE420 (close to a SE530, better value for dosh).

I'll admit I really don't know much about headphones except for I have Bose "in ear" headphones and they suck. I am only 14 and CANNOT go over the $300 mark. Basically what I am saying is that I think I have narrowed it down to 2. The Monster's or the Ultimate Ears. So please vote for the one's you prefer. Don't vote if you are only voting because you dislike a company.

I switched my Super5pro for my buddy's Beats by Dr. Dre for a week to see what's up with Monter's new IEMs.

My initial response was WOW, I love the bass, I don't know if it's considered bassy for IEMs but it had more bass than my 5pro's, but as I continue to listen to them for extended periods of time I started to notice other things.

It sounded muddy as if all the sound was directed at the low end of the spectrum and it's definitely lacking crisp clean highs that my 5pro has. Overall I like the bass but when it came to clarity it came out short.

It's usually a company's entry level stuff that would encourage newcomers to try the higher end stuff but Monster's entry level Dr. Dre's were a discouraging which lead me to think, if they can't get the entry level stuff right why should I try their pricer IEMs?

Just like how user's here enjoy Sennheiser's entry level HD555. When the time comes what do you think the chances are they're going to upgrade to a more expensive pair of Sennheisers?

*edit* - It is a irrefutable fact that Monter's products are overpriced. I have a very wide selection of IEMs that sound better for the price of Monster's Turbines.

Uh,

1) the Dr. Dre Beats are full-size ANC headphones. The Tour Beats are IEM's and are not associated to Dr. Dre in any way.

At the moment, they only got the Turbines and the Tour Beats in their IEM range and they are both price the same.

Because Sennheiser dominate the half-decent quality gaming headphone market by flooding the supply to PC part e-tailers thus gamers only know Sennheiser.

The Turbines' street price is at $100. Go and name.
Honestly, stop talking out of your ass.
I dislike Monster as much as the next guy but I give credit and criticism when due, no matter what or who it is.
