I need to ditch my turle beach ear force 5.1 headset. there old, falling apart and after last night I tried headphone mode on my x-fi and was blown away by the difference in virtual surround compaired to what was supposed to be true surround. I want your normal non surround headset so I figured I would get the fatal1ty gaming headset. they match up with my fatal1ty x-fi pro and there cheap. But are they worth the 50 bucks? Is there something provin better then them that cost 50 bucks or less?

Sennheiser makes some lower end headphones that should still be under $50 I'm sorry but I have to always recommend sennheiser they have been making headphones for over 50 years now and they know what they are doing its what they specialize in.

I have that headset. I love it but im no audiophile though. It sounds great to me but thats because I've never used anything better. I felt the were worth $50 but i was comparing them to the like $15 cheap walmart headset i used to have.

well I prefer to have the mic built in. I got kids and need to keep the cabling to a minimum. Im not much of an audiophile either. I just want a decent sounding gaming "headset" thats not gonna cost me much. From the reviews I read on the fatal1ty set, they sound like there right up my alley. I know "creative sucks" and "dont buy anything thats has Fatal1ty on it", but im not worried about that. I just want to know if there worth the 50 bucks for the set.

Sennheiser is in the $100 range, but totally worth it IMO (these are great)

Steelseries has a set for $80 that's comparable (here) looks pry good as well.

EDIT: Senhheiser also has a set for $65 that doesn't seem to shabby either...looks like a good value by it's specs

Ahhh didn't notice the $65 one was only USB figured it was both via adapter

EDIT: How bout this? It's way under price range and not Fatal1ty lol

It's basically a faux quality headset. Instead of buying a Benz you're buying the Hyundai that looks just like the Benz.

A lot of people refuse to use / recommend it just for that fact. I've tried them out, they're OK but I didn't find them to be very comfortable, and for another $20-50 more you can get a set that will be far better.

EDIT:

This Sennheiser set is $52 bucks on Amazon and has better specs than The Fatal1ty...well worth the $2 more

Newegg doesn't have it anymore, but here's their spec sheet

It's not just the low quality, its the fact that creative markets itself as a high end audio company and prices their products based on that assumption, which the general public is not informed enough to know is a lie.

That goes double fold for just about every Fatal1ty product after the first wave hit the market in 2005.

There are plenty of better options for similar or lower costs, I sugest you check those out.

There's a reason savvy individuals avoid creative and fatal1ty when possible.

#1 Fatal1ty hardware = fail You pay more for the name than you do for the quality and performance of the hardware

#2 You get what you pay for

^Listen to him Sennheiser has truly the best quality headphones you want just headphones get hd555's if not get pc 350's which include a microphone and both sound and mic quality are phenomenal.
The sennheiser 201 which is about 20 bucks has practically the same quality if not better than the Fatal1ty headphones.

hopefully these will be a little better.
I had that headset a while back and its alright, absolutely no bass though.

I would have recommended something a bit higher up as that would really satisfy you.

Also for the mic, the only mic I can recomend is the common Zalman Clip on mic. Unless you get a headset with a mic, the Zalman is pretty much the best option

If you want something for GAMES, I use this 5.1 Headset and its not too shabby.

but those arent red and dont say anything about gaming in em.....j/k.

i think my turtlebeach head phones spoiled me. they sound great and have a great mic. only problem s they are falling apart. Ive read nothing but good things about the steelseries and they have actually been suggested by a crap load of people. seems different forums suggest different things. this forum is all about Sennheiser. I under stand they are good but seriously, they are not the only company that make good headphone. Im surprised no one said save and get the hd650's. tunnel vision sucks.

I second this advice, but to each his own. I have had the turtle beach earforce and made the switch to Senn's and a clip on mic and I'm glad I did.

well they just arrived. tried them on, very comfy. Listened to some slayer(dead skin mask), eminem(kill you), and some old school sir mix alot (posse on broadway). Sound is much better then plantronics and pretty equal if not better then my old turtle beach. Just got to try some gaming.
