Everything I wanted

I was in the market for a new monitor, first having a 900P monitor a few years back, then a 1080P AW2210 monitor for 3 years or so. Noticing the blacks on the alienware were just not dark enough and also that the panel was just too small. I went to microcenter in search of a new monitor, as well as browsing newegg. I went in and bought an asus VE247H (I think) twas a 24 inch TN panel with HDMI, fast response, 1080P etc. I brought it home just was not impressed. Didnt seem worth the upgrade to me. I returned it a week later and began browsing again, looking at 27 inch 1080P models. I was checking out an AOC 27 inch 1080P and an asus 27 inch model. Since I sit pretty close to my monitors, the pixel pitch was just too much for me. Then, I saw it, hooked up to a computer in a far corner, the U2913WM. Heavens opened up, it looked great, good pixel density, color, HDMI, and an adjustable stand. Scared, I looked for a price, 649.99. HAHA. No way I was paying that much, but I HAD to have it. I went home, scoured newegg (550), scoured ebay (450 no warranty refurb), dell refurb (not in stock), nothing under 450, even with coupon codes etc. I told myself if I could find it for less than 400 I would buy it. Then, an email appeared in my inbox from dell outlet, as I had bought my last alienware refurbed through them. It was a coupon for 30% off all refurb monitors. Ah man I thought, it wasnt in stock anyway. I refreshed every 15 mins, and then, it appeared!!! I quickly added to the cart, 449 original price, free shipping and 30% off. Sold. Brought it home and hooked it up. This thing is even sexier in person, especially VESA mounted. So much extra screen space, looks SO good. Ok I thought, an 8ms gtg response time is not so great on paper, lets fire up FC3. It supports 2560x1080 and looks awesome! Dont notice lag or ghosting or whatever at all (with my untrained eyes). Unfortunately the settings have to be dialed back, as I only have a 6950 for now (although it is heavily OCd 33%). But his was expected, it has 33% more pixels than 1080p. Overall, I am totally happy with this monitor, the refurb looks new and comes with all the cables etc a new one would, except the warranty is only 90 days vs 3 years or something. I can deal, based on past experience.
While I have not tested a bunch of games, I know some dont work correctly at 21:9, even some new ones, like assasins creed I think. Research that more. I knew I wanted to play BF3, FC3 and metro on this bad boy and all those are supported, I can deal with it if they dont, can easily switch to 1080P mode for those games and PS3 as well. Can also stretch the 1080P to fill the screen, but who does that
. If you want to max games at this rez, youll probly need a 770/680 or 7950+, not exactly sure, just keep that in mind
Overall very happy. People complain about response times, bad formatting, why dont you just get 1440P? etc. For the price I got it, 1440p was not even close (no, i am not shipping a no name monitor from South Korea with a glossy plastic bezel you cant even VESA Mount) and im not paying 700 for a 27 inch dell 1440P. Refresh rates are not noticeable to me, and I love the formatting. Plus, I dont have enough graphics horses as it is, can drive any more pixels. Plus I love the slim factor of this monitor, its like having two monitors in eyefinity without the bezel.
Anyway I love it and would recommend it if it can be had for a good price.
