Bit of a random question here. I kinda have the feeling the answer will be no but i have to ask anyway.

Does/could powering your gpu fans off of your mobo free up some power/overclocking potential from the gfx card?

thanks in advance

thanks for the info.....the originals on my gtx 770 drew 4.2 watts at full tilt each....the new ones i put on draw 1.92watts each.

i dont suppose you know exactly how the fan is powered on a gpu card? does it come with its own vrm type thing or does share one with another system?

thanks

thanks for the responses.

looks like its generally a no/negligible difference then.

btw i wasnt on about turning the fans off....just powering them from an external source. this is what sort of happens when you watercool a graphics card, in the sense the graphics card fan header becomes redundant.
