This guide was written with the monitor connected via DisplayPort to a GTX 780.

I feel that I have finally achieved the best-looking color accuracy and color quality of my AOC G2460PG, at least to my eyes. So, I want to tell you how I did it in hopes that I can improve your experience as well. Warning: My color vision isn't perfect. So, your results may vary.

  1. In the 'Luminance' section of the built-in menu, switch the 'Gamma' setting to Gamma3 (leave Contrast to 50, and the Brightness can be whatever you like)
  2. In the 'Color Setup' section, switch the "Color Temp." setting to User.
  3. Change all 3 of the colors to 65.
  4. In the NVIDIA Control Panel, click "Adjust desktop color settings".
  5. For "Choose how colors are set", make sure you have "Other applications control color settings" selected. You don't want the NVIDIA Control Panel messing with your color unless you have a monitor that needs it!
  6. Feel free to use Digital Vibrance, but I recommend staying at a low setting. The highest I like to go is about 65 for a bit more pop for general use, but I use 50 for movies and long YouTube videos because reds can look weird otherwise.
  7. Click "Adjust video color settings" over on the left side.
  8. Make sure "With the video player settings" is selected.
  9. Use this color profile:

    AOC_G2460PG_color_profile.zip 11k .zip file

You can set your monitor to any brightness you want, but I prefer roughly 35-40 for general use, and 55-65 for games and movies. I use about 90 for looking at photos. With all of the above, I find my colors to be the best I've seen so far, including skin tones. Again though, my color vision isn't perfect so your results may vary.

If you don't know how to apply a color profile, then I can help with that:

  1. Download the .zip file and extract the .icm file out of it. Remember where you extracted it to.
  2. Close the .zip file. You no longer need it.
  3. Go to the extracted .icm file.
  4. Right-click it and choose "Install Profile".
  5. Open Color Management (you should be able to just open the Start Menu and type "color management" and press Enter)
  6. At the top of the Color Management window, make sure your monitor is selected. It's ok if it's "Generic PnP Monitor". You can click "Identify monitors" if you need to make sure.
  7. Now enable the option "Use my settings for this device"
  8. If the newly-installed color profile for the AOC G2460PG is shown in the list below, then select it and click the button labeled "Set as Default Profile".
  9. If this color profile isn't shown in the list below, then Click "Add..." at the bottom of the window
  10. Select the color profile ("AOC G2460PG.icm") and click OK - or just double-click the profile.
  11. Now select the color profile and click the button "Set as Default Profile"

That's pretty much it. What do you think?

Overdrive controls the response time, which doesn't affect color accuracy or quality.

I leave mine on Medium because I believe this to be 4ms. Strong should be 1ms, but 1ms is too much for me; I get the trails behind most moving objects. I haven't tried Weak or Light because Medium is perfect for me. I do notice smoother-looking motion with it set to Strong, but I am much too distracted by the trails.
