For fast travel you have two good options. First, and the most fair, is to find the mark and recall spells. They are the most useful spells in the game, for me. You simply mark a spot, then whenever you cast recall, you will be taken back to that spot even if you are overencumbered.

Second you can always go to the console and type COC "Balmora, Guild of Mages" or something like that. Sure it not technically fair, but it speeds the game up exponentially and if you only use it when you can legally sleep, it is basically like fast traveling in Oblivion.

Make sure you go to Caldera. It is just about a 5 minute walk north from caldera.

There you go to the orc manor, and talk to the scamp upstairs. He buys everything for face value oppose to getting ripped off by all the other merchants.

Also, about 3 minutes north of Caldera are some boots of blinding speed. They are very useful.
