During install you almost always have the option to choose what drive you want to put your games/programs onto. Leave windows stuff on the SSD. When installing Steam for example, the default will be C: but you can easily change that to your other drive, and all games from there on out will default install to that drive. Hope that helps a bit.
Heh, I just saw where you said "if you aren't careful". Yeah, if you don't pay attention everything does indeed install to C:. So....Be careful
