Look into "DOM Backup".
Then, to retrieve the backup, check out what it tells you on this link.

Could I ask why you want to backup the firmware? Can't you just download the same version off the net and use it as backup?

It is the Phison S5 controller if you are curious and I am flashing the 20GB cache SSD in my Acer S3 ultrabook.
If you look up the motherboard, you could find a download for firmware controller Phison S5.

I would contact the support team for the motherboard or the company that makes the controller for additional support to make a backup of your preexisting version because I don't think anybody else is going to reply when it comes to this sort of subject.
