idk i read on wikipedia that apparently that its actually not using 64bit for some reason, instead it is using 54bit as the size of the cache on cpus are not large enough to be equivalent to handle 64bit registers as effectively because of the space they use. In other words less cache thrashing which causes performance hits when the cpu is doing its thing.

Another example of wikifail, I don't trust anything I read there unless there is a citation from a reputable source. It can be good to do a little quick learning about something but that's about it.

Bulldozer is actually rumored to have 128bit OS's supported later on in its releases. I read that windows 8 will have a partially functioning 128bit version. windows 9 will be fully 128bit ready. I saw that windows 8 will also only be 64bit. So any CPU that isn't 64bit won't be supported.

What's the benefit of a 128-bit OS? Quad-precision Floating Point is rare even in HPCs and non-existent in desktop use.

You can't be partially functioning 128-bit. You either are or are not.
