I have a Dell UltraSharp U2311H and I am looking to get my brother a new monitor and I can't decide between the Dell UltraSharp U2311H and the LG E2370V-BE.

I love my Dell UltraSharp U2311H, but I really wish it was LED backlit.

My brother is going to be using the monitor mainly for stock trading, so he doesn't need a low response time. I just don't like buying a monitor sight unseen.

Does anyone any thoughts or insights?

The dell's do tend to have the nicer picture, But you are also right about the led backlit is a nice feature and adds to the quality.

This is what I would do IMHO,

buy the lg screen see which one you and him prefer. If the lg is a lot nicer playing games but not so nice looking at stocks then offer the dell for the lg

But atleast having them side by side you can say to him which do you find easier to look at, And which one you prefer.

If you both decide you like the dell, Jump into the tardis and stop youself buying it (sorry I cant resist

A monitor that is 1920 x 1200p is better than 1080p for these business applications that your brother is doing, TBH find a 2nd hand (they don't make CRT's anymore) quality 4:3 CRT is the best monitor for watching stocks. And you don't need any of the LED or IPS features, after all, your brother is doing business, not gaming. If I were you I would get a 16:10 or 4:3 monitor and a nice comfy office chair like the Steelcase Leap.

Dell will be coming out with an LED version of the U2311H in the next few months.

LED is only a backlight update, this dont means that it's better, the new U2312Hm can be worst, why change u2311 whit u2312 ? if u want buy a better solution buy a bigger monitor or other tecnology.
