I know this has been asked a lot and is a noob question but I still dont understand it and cant seen to find a thread explaining it. So any links would be appreciated.

I just got the Roccat Savu and it goes up to 4000 dpi. Whats is "technically" the best way to use this mouse in fps games to get the best accuracy? Would it be 4000 dpi on mouse and then low in-game sensitivity? or vice versa? I know most people say it doesn't matter and its all personal preference. but if I trained to use both of them would one have advantage? I've also seen things about perfect 1:1 ratio or something???

idk if this matters but my resolution is 1680x1050 haha. Oh, and does it matter which USB port i plugged the mouse into the back of my computer? I have orange and black USB ports. I ask this because i have the mouse set to 1000Hz polling rate on the driver.

Its mostly for Counter Strike: GO. I have a huge mouse pad (SS QcK+) so space isn't a problem.

Why does it have to be 1 in-game?

Just put your sens between 1 to 5, just to be sure that you won't get any staircase artifacts, and get a comfortable combination between those values [1,5] and your mice native CPI values. Considering the Savu performs almost perfect up to 1600CPI, just use either 400, 800 or 1600.
CPI != in-game sensitivity.
Agreed with the second part.
I would rather say that up until the moment where your hardware is limiting your performance, keep yourself out of technical stuff. It won't make you any better.
In-game sensitivity does matter : too low or too high and you'll have artifacts.
However, total sensitivity as in cm/360Âş doesn't matter much as long as it's not too high (as in a distance too small for accurate movements, taking static friction into account, will make small movements erratic).
In any event, any incarnation of CS isn't so much a fast-paced, aim-based game as most people makes it out to be. Good positioning, an ability to find the right angles, good sound perception and smart thinking can get you further than aim only

What is CPI? And why only 400, 800, 1600? on cs:go I've been using 4000 DPI with 0.65 in-game sensitivity. Is it bad to use <1 in-game sensitivity? And why [1-5]? Thanks

These should give you the same 360 turning distance and better tracking. I agree with DeMS, this mouse will definitely work better at 800 or 1600 DPI than at 4000.
In my opinion you should increase distance to 360, make it about 30cm (for example sens 1.7 @ 800 DPI). It will help your accuracy much more than very low sensitivity.
Ok then i think will stick to the first 3 DPI setting. I tried 1.7 @ 800 DPI and it was pretty good, is the 1.7 just a random number or is there some sort of logic behind it? I also tried 1.0 @ 1600 DPI and it was almost the same. except its a perfect 1, idk if that makes a difference though lol. Thanks for the responses btw

I use SS QcK+ so i think thats enough room for 40-60cm. Would it be best to lower DPI to 400/800 to achieve 40-60cm or could i stay at 1600 and just put in-game sens below <1?
