Well, I downloaded MSI Afterburner and unlocked the voltage control in the settings menu and the option to increase my core voltage is not available. What the hell am I doing wrong? I have a XFX HD 5870 GPU.

Give me the exact part number of your XFX card.

I'm guessing its a non-reference design and it does not have voltage control.

Well, if that's the case then i will never buy a XFX branded card again. Anyway, I don't have the part number.

That really isn't the right attitude toward this. It's no XFX's fault. XFX sells reference cards and non reference cards. In fact every manufacturer does. All you did was make an informed decision. You just need make sure you know how to spot them and avoid them, if you so desire. If you're OCing, then yeah you want a reference card, or one that says it has voltage tweakablity.

This is assuming you have an non reference. If it is a reference and not tweakable, then it would be XFX's fault.

Could also be BIOS locked?

Well, unfortunately this card does not support voltage control as far as I know...

Sorry bro.

They should be exactly the same hardware. I'd just get whichever one is less expensive.

The ASUS probably has a wider range of clock settings in the BIOS but it's a very small matter to flash the Sapphire with whatever BIOS you chose.
