Hi guys, I have a Turtle Beach X12 and have noticed that when I play my games, videos or anything else with audio quite loud, the noise would bleed through the microphone even when muted. Is the headset fecked or are some of my settings off maybe?

Completely read this as "Nose bleeding through microphone."

Try muting your microphone, then go to your Control Panel and into Hardware and Sound. See if you can test your microphone there. You should be able to see your microphone levels if you click on "Manage Audio Devices" - check if the bars go up, signalling that it's getting input.

Just like previously, when i muted the mic and talked there was no activity but if I played a loud Youtube video the bars shot up.

Lol same here, the microphone probably has little to no sound canceling built in, you could try turning down the sound on it but it's likely a problem with the headset or rather so you can always be heard by your team. I don't know if there is software to change this but ventrilo does have a threshold to how much sound triggers your que up if that's what you use to talk.

Edit: I just saw that sound was coming through even when muted, this leaves me to believe that it could be a problem with your sound card, does this occur with another microphone? Nothing should happen when it's muted. Could be driver related.

I don't think that this is the problem as I just installed a new motherboard 2 weeks ago and the problem happened with the old motherboard also.

There could be some crosstalk between the speaker and microphone wires I guess, if that's the case then your headset is kind of screwed up.

I was able to fix this issue with my headset (which is the same model) by going to "manage audio devices" Then disabled Microphone boost then going to the 'Enhancements' tab and ticking the 'Acoustic Echo Cancellation' option.
