sold my RX 6800 Aorus Master and got a new 7800XT for a couple bucks more. Saw this Acer model and it was one of the cheapest 3 fan models at the time so went with it.

I can happily inform that it has Hynix VRAM and a high powerlimit (330W). Its the 3 fan OC model.

So I ran the 3DMark suite after overclocking and undervolting and found out this GPU hits the number one Graphics score  (in Port Royal, Fire Strike, Speedway etc for all uploaded 7800XT's scores worldwide on 3dmark and hwbot!

testing my equipment before making a good looking build!

Software OC to ~400W-430W on my Hellhound 7800XT, no hardware mods, stock paste even. But hotspot was ~100C, didn't test for long.

Not sure on exact total power, it's broken with OC and I went by wall socket watt meter. Compared stock 280W max draw vs OC and had around 600W total wall socket power draw with OC.
OC in this case means over-current.
With better cooling it might do better but I don't plan on opening it up, at least not until warranty expires.
i have a wattmeter on my 2xPEG cables on a 7800XT, the max seen was 330W from the PSU running at 3400MHz+ gpupi 32b. 100C hotspot is something ive never seen on my model and should be worrying

No, I mean I went past stock limits, more power, 3300MHz sustained in benchmarks, 400-430W dissipated power. Not peaks, sustained, like all day long. And I could push even more with a better cooling solution. But ~450W is absolute max my stock cooling solution can handle.

Of-course, I'm pushing over 400W. Even with three fans, it's stock thermal paste, makes sense to hit 100C.
that very interesting, what software do you use to get this high powerlimit? did you flash the bios / modded the bios? What model you have?

Also entered hwbot competition, got 1st place atm for Superposition 1080P Xtreme Hall Of Fame and 1st place for 8K Optimized Hall Of Fame.
Not sure on verification but I do have the Superposition score files, besides screenshots. Can I submit those as well? Didn't see a field for that.

right on!! thats great! im going to try to match it :)

Ok I installed Benchmate but fails to start:

Date/time are correct, OS is up to date. Any issues with running on LTSC?
BTW, earlier Superposition scores are all no.1 for each benchmark resolution, sadly I can't seem to upload them without buying Superposition, which I won't.
Seems I did better than 7900GRE. Pretty close to 4070Ti scores.
it should work on LTSC ive ran it on W11 LTSC, have you unpacked the .zip file and ran the installer?

I directly downloaded an exe installer, bm-12.1.0.exe. It's linked on their front page, left side option. Right side archive version is for older windows versions.
I did download it a few times to make sure, and setup works fine. But fails on app startup, after install is done.
I have no clue. Will install a normal Win11 version and see if it does the same.
it should work this way!! , with the left side installer

Reinstalled with Win11 Home, and this time Benchmate started without issues. Have no clue what that was about.
Anyway, ran the GPUPI 3.3 32B benchmark and managed to snatch 2nd place:
Still 8 seconds away from 1st place, not sure I can easily pull it off.
This benchmark is kind of strange, seems more like a die quality benchmark. What matters is how high clocks can go. VRAM clocks don't seem to matter at all, I ran the best run with stock memory speed, 3480MHz max clock limit and 950mV for undervolt.
Benchmark also doesn't push GPU TDP. I set current gain to high heavens for all rails but didn't seem to matter.

nice result, can you try gpupi 3.2?
(its the only bechmark results i have of right now with my 7800XT)
if you upload a score on hwbot , you need to follow the rules and it should look something like this (CPUZ tabs_ GPUZ tabs opened)

i have a question did you use LOD mod in superposition?

Image

I'll give 3.2 a go.
Can I reupload that score while having the other stuff opened? Had no clue on the rules but I did have GPUZ open to make a screenshot. Didn't know it makes a screenshot itself when saving the result. Figured I'm on AM4 so nothing to boast with, DDR4/5900X meh.
Also do I need to have that stuff open during the test? I usually close everything to have as much as possible available for the test itself. I opened GPU-Z after it was done, took a screenshot in windows and then pressed the save score button. Was confused how it got the screenshot on hwbot website. Went there to upload the one I manually made.
I have no idea what LOD mod is/means. I just downloaded the benchmark from here: UNIGINE Benchmarks Linux version, ran that file which extracts the benchmark and just ran it and that's about it.
superposition and gpupi are benchmarks which dont lean on CPU and ram that much, superposition maybe a little bit but gpupi its solely the GPU , thats why i was asking!
ran it at 3450MHz (slider in Adrenaline up to 4000Mhz or so... be careful dont overdo it lol) at about 325W more than that was blackscreen, right on the limits for the stock bios on this Acer Predator Model. FOr a full 3DMark i think it was more like 3150 MHz max if it even got there, also with 325W load. When i did them they were al number one on 3dmark Firestrike GPU and port royal and speedway i think it was. now running it stock i dont like GPU OC as much as i do love RAM and CPU only set the fanspeed :p

Superposition 8K on Linux is not eligible for hwbot so I'll just post it here since it's a pretty high score for 7800XT.

And used settings:

@Kaliz I saw what you mentioned, in the rules. What is LOD/TESS? Some kind of addon?
im no expert in GPU OC, but i know on NVIDIA cards you can easily set LOD lower with an external tool nvidiaeditor or profile editor or something..
Its also possible on Radeon but then again im no expert and i dont know how to do it on AMD cards.
Only nvidia ( i have a 3060ti and i think its still number one worldwide for Superposition. That card has some extreme good hynix vram +3000 Mhz or more is possible. and by setting LOD to a specific value its a good amount faster.

does anyone know how to set LOD on RAdeon GPU?

Hello everyone! I recently bought a Sapphire Radeon RX 7800 XT Nitro+ graphics card as a gift for my little brother. A good gift I thought then..
The computer is a m-atx build in case G.Skill LT 1. This is a fairly small case, and in these conditions it was decided to undervolt the GPU (three-slot).

I've been overclocking for decades, and I had and have video cards RX 7000 series (7900XTX, 7600, 7900 GRE). They all overclocked or undervolted without any problems.
RX 7800XT is different. I tested it many times before giving it away. 3DMark Time Spy - 99,6%, OCCT stress test - several hours several times, various games, one of them BF2042 (multiplayer) - is a good instability detector. "Everything is fine", it would seem..

But CS2 causes random crashes on any settings except default ones. This discouraged me.. At first I thought that GPU was dying. But the crashes are repeated only in CS2 (taking into account the available tests).
Even 2500MHz is unstable for core on 1100mv, as is the memory if clocks higher than 2514MHz (samsung chips) - default timings.

I'm wondering how bad it can get.. and is there a solution to the problem when saving manual settings? I realize that there is not always one solution to common problems, Interested in your experience.
try lowering the memory clock, as even with my Hynix chips i got problems... can realistically only go up to 2514 stable. and without fast timings.

@Kaliz Managed to overtake you on GPUPI, but just by a bit. I was also starting to error out, so don't know how much better I can do, probably a bit more but not much. I was already at 3.5GHz.

awesome mate! you can set show max clocks in option in GPUZ, so you can see the maximum voltage , wattage etc. So how much watt does it draw?
