The RTX 3080, RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3090 share the same PCB design, with the exception of NVLink missing and no memory modules on the back of the RTX 3080 and RTX 3080 Ti. The NVIDIA Reference PCB (2x8-pin) has room for 9 power stages on the left and 11 power stages on the right, with 4 of them allocated for memory. This means that the 3080/3080 Ti/3090 reference PCB has a maximum of 16 power stages for the GPU.

Wouldn’t have made sense, imo, to go from a 3090 to a 3080TI unless you wanted to pull a profit off the 3090.

This makes me wish I had done the EVGA step-up on my 3080FTW3 to the 3090KP. It is what it is. I’ll see if I can get a good spot in the queue tomorrow morning.

Idiots. None of the 3xxx cards have been in-store at Best Buy at any point as far as I know. Maybe I'm wrong, but people are ridiculous. I'm sure the Microcenter in PA must be crowded. Almost worth the hour drive to have a laugh lol

There was a best buy near me issuing tickets, and I showed up, and they were already sold out. Only the first 40 people got one. At least they were courteous enough to not get people's hopes up, and straight up said they only had 40 cards. Hundreds probably showed up. It's not worth trying to grab one at a retailer.

I'd rather just pay $3000-$3500 for a prebuild that has one, to be perfectly honest. And that's far from desirable, it's just the least crappy option at this point. Building your own rigs is pretty much dead until the market settles down on GPUs, and things can be purchased on a whim again. I got more money than I do time to waste on slim possibilities, such as getting a GPU at MSRP price. I'd rather give my money to the company making prebuilds than a 3rd party scalper. I got nothing for the scalper, other than a knuckle sandwich.

Just finished updating the original post, listing all of the specs, after having looked through all the reviews and teardowns, I was very surprised to learn what Palit/Gainward has been up to.

Palit/Gainward offer dual NCP81610 8-phase controllers for their 3090 line-up, but not on the Ti, instead they're using dual NCP81611 4-phase controllers.

To give you an understanding of how it's laid out;

RTX 2080 Ti Reference PCB (13+3)

Here we have 13 stages going to the GPU, but only a single 8-phase controller, meaning it has to run some stages in parallel;

Controller 1 (8-Phase Controller uP9512P)

5: Parallel (10)

There was a significant change on Ampere, instead of just one controller for the GPU, now it used two (story for another day on how and why), which removed the need to use stages in parallel.

I've never seen this on any other card, it's borderline absurd.

They also did this on their dual power connector cards, GamingPro and Phoenix, dual NCP81611 for the GPU, these are 17 power stage cards;

So, what does this mean? It's really difficult to say (it really is), it might not have any impact on overclocking at all, realistically very little if any, on air and water cooling that is, but it's clearly not optimal. I would personally avoid these cards and get one that do not run any stages in parallel, as I would be water blocking my card and push it to the limit, and wouldn't want to be restricted in any way by a sub-optimal power delivery configuration.

The EVGA ELITE membership, I thought would be a good idea to limit idiots, scalpers, bots..

Then I realized that they allow ELITE membership to anyone with 100 posts, and allowed people to participate in bullshit threads that were spam just to reach their 100 posts. They literally made their own protection ****ing useless.

The site was garbage as well. 8:50 and it was crashing. I got into the queue around 11am and it was still super ****ed.

There needs to be a better solution with next gen of cards. This **** is enough to make me quit this entire hobby all together. I don't have time to spend 4hrs refreshing a crashing website so that I can give a company $1400 for an overpriced component. It's insanity and in most other markets would be entirely unacceptable.

I dunno man, but this **** is not it.

Anyone here get their hands on one today? I know best buy was doing some sort of ticket system if you showed up in person. Newegg was doing the shuffle but I think that was for pre orders.

Seems like very little fan fare for this launch.

In France , some retailers offered today custom cards from Asus, MSI, EVGA, etc…
No more stock 30 minutes after launch…

I signed up for EVGA queue 1.75hrs after launch and was notified today already. Note, I tried since first launched and took that long to get just on the notifies list. Fastest I've ever seen with EVGA queue, contacted 4hrs later.

Did you sign up for all the 3080 ti's available or the Hybrid? I'm wondering if the queue was shorter for this one being an XC3, Hybrid and + cost over air version ($1400 + tax + ship = $1480)
