What's the best way to remove a backplate off a motherboard. They seem to stick very hard.

Thank you!

Hope it works for you.

Wesker.

thank you!

Edit: I should just be able to pull it off. It's a bendy plastic backplate anyway from corsair.

Is it the H50 plastic backplate thing?

Don't just grab it and yank, you might bend the backplate, which would be a disaster. use a screwdriver and slowly pry it off.

Note you WON'T get all the of the adhesive pads off. The adhesive on those is incredibly strong.

What I used for getting a metal backplate with glue off was a hair dryer (low heat) and a plastic credit card.

How easy was it to do with the hair dryer? How long did you heat for?

Hair dryer on one spot for about 1 minute. Then try to pry underneath one corner of the backplate with a credit card and slide. Repeat for the other 3 ends. Don't use something metal like a razor or something like that. It might scratch the PCB.

I try not to use the adhesive on backplates any more. It is a big pain to take off.

Thank you for this mini guide. I only have 2 pads down so it should not be too hard with the dryer.

Just wedged a screw driver and got my fingers under it. Came off easier than expected. Still not "easy" though, just "easier"! Thank you everyone

Thank you. I've already taken the plate off but it's good info for others
