Quote:Want to be the envy of your next office party or PC-gaming session? Let me introduce you to the Dell UP3017Q OLED Monitor. This $4,999 (about £3,350, AU$6,975) 4K, 30-inch monitor is one of the most exciting displays we've ever laid our eyes on.
SourceThe best monitor we've ever reviewed at techradar is the LG 34UC97. This gorgeous workhorse features a response time of 5 milliseconds (ms), a contrast ratio of 1,000 to 1, and a refresh rate capable of drawing 61 images per second (or 61Hz).
The UP3017Q blows these specs out of the water.
The Rolls-Royce of displays is capable of a 0.1ms response time, a contrast ratio of 400,000 to 1, and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

It's only DisplayPort 1.2, so you'll either need to use 2 or cheat by using 4:2:0 chroma.
From the article
Only time will tell if these tactics work.Dell says it has remedied the shortcomings of OLED panels by introducing a pixel-shifting algorithm that prevents burn-in, and an image sensor that can tell whether or not you're viewing the monitor and turns it off when it's not in use.
Actually USB 3.1 Type-C can theoretically support more bandwidth than the DisplayPort 1.3 spec uses... (DP 1.3 is ~7Gbps for 4 lanes, USB 3.1 is 10Gbps for 4 lanes)
Can Adaptive-Sync even work on displays that require two video inputs?
Can't be done with a single DP1.3 connection. 4k 120Hz 8bit requires ~35GBit of bandwidth, while DP1.3 has 32. I'd also guess this monitor is 10bit or more.
I read that as the UltraSharp 27 model having DP1.2Originally Posted by Nintendo Maniac 64

That's where I got the info about DP 1.2 and it mentions various burn-in preventive measures built into the display.
DP 1.2 is for some other $700 27 monitor.Originally Posted by Nintendo Maniac 64

Thanks, I've edited my previous posts to reflect this.
I'm a noob when it comes to calculating monitor bandwidth, maybe i'm doing this wrong but this calculator says UHD @ 120hz is only 29.86Gbps which is well within the 32Gbps standard of DP1.3
Its either DP 1.3 or USB Type C - not sure... but from what I hear from my pipeline that some scalar vendors may have engineering samples of it for CES 2016 show (this was a few months ago).Originally Posted by Pantsu
I doubt it's DP 1.3 at this point, considering there's no GPUs to support it. It does have USB Type C connector, but what's the limit on that?
It's gonna be a long hard wait until these drop to a more reasonable price. Hopefully by then we'll have 40" models with Adaptive-Sync out since I don't feel like dropping down in size.
