Well, in nothing i've tried am I able to read temperatures for my cpu, I can read the cpu core temps, but not the overall cpu temp. Also I can't read the volts for everything or adjust fan speeds.

A while back when I got a nifty little Vantec Tornado fan, my brother thought he could make the fan control for the fan work (for some reason it wasn't and still isn't resolved) and he switched a pin in the connector to a different hole and plugged it in. Almost immediately the fan speed went down, and then it started going down more and I smelled burned electronics and flipped the switch on the power strip shutting down everything.

I unplugged the fan and let everything air out (burned electronics smell awful

) and tried everything and everything was working properly and no noticeable damage and such.

Recently, All voltages for the motherboard read 0.00, it doesn't even show any fans running (they're definitely on and working), and the temps (with the exception of core temps which read fine) read -249.7c. As much as I wish that was the real temps, I know it is not so and am stuck here templess

.

Any ideas on what is wrong and what I should do about it?

I'll upload some overdrive screens to show you

Did you switch fan while comp was running? I ran an ECS board on my first build and it definatly taught me alot about trouble shooting. It had to be the flakiest board I ever had. When it ran it ran good but I had all kinds of issues with sound, overclocking, voltage etc. I feel for ya.

no I turned off the system when I put the fan on. My brother did the pin thing though with it on

This board definitely runs good when its working, key word is working lol. Yeah I get lots of different issues with overclocking and the works.

Do you have any type of "core unlocker" on your mobo? If so, do you have it enabled?

I was tinkering in my BIOS one day, flipped this setting on, and then all the HWmonitor showed -0- for all CPU temps. I flipped the setting back off and bingo... back in business.

Okay, I have seen this before believe it or not. You can try one thing before buying a new board. You can reset your CMOS doing a hard reset and remove your CMOS battery. If this doesn't fix it, the explanation is simple. The burned electronics smell was the fan controller on the board taking a hit. See this more commonly with power surges, but it can happen if you screw up an overclock. Probably once or twice a week I see this at work. You can always run your fans from the Molexes and buy a fan controller if you want to keep your board, but your temp readings will always be screwy. does your fan spin up, then cycle down after a bit and spin up again. A sure sign of a failed fan controller. Also, the ACPI thermal zone has likely failed as well since your board is getting a temp reading of -249 C. No bueno - I feel for ya

it does do the cycle down thing

well, I just updated the bios (it was the 6core update) and that completely reset my cmos settings with no fix. I'll probably just get a new board someday in the future and not overclock much til I do as I can't see my temps
