Unscrewing mouse screws that are too tight

Hi! I want to cannibalize my DA 3.5G for its cable but I can't seem to unscrew the darn thing. Have any of you encountered similar issues with your mice and how did you manage to do it?

If the only part you care about is the cable and don't need anything else, I say take a BFH (Big Freakin' Hammer) to the other end. You could also use a knife on the seam until you can get a flathead in and pry it apart.

If the screws are stuck and the screwdriver slips before unscrewing then it may be the wrong shape to the screwdriver head. If the screws aren't already worn out then you may be able to find a different diver to get a better grip. Some are more pointy to get into smaller screws and some are more of a shallow angle for getting larger screws. The wrong one will only grip a small portion of the screw head and either slip off or round out the middle. Just today I was replacing blinds and I had to use 3 different size phillips and a square screwdriver just to undo the insanity of mismatched screws used to put the old blinds up. Luckily I have an entire toolbox full of screwdrivers.

Only other thing I can think of is to use some method to warm up the mouse to help soften the plastic. Heat is the best cure for stubborn bolts and screws. A BFH works excellent too.Saw, drill, torch, a rock. Opening things is only limited by imagination.

Thanks for the advice. Ugh I'm going to need to heat it up without using a waterbath (because that will destroy it rip). My specific issue is that I can't unscrew it even tho I can get the screwdriver on it. Its like a jar that's too tight. Im using an eyeglass screwdriver and pressing down on it while using a plier to grip it but it just won't budge x_x. Im gonna try a hair dryer.

In that case I would either recommend a very very tiny drop or dap of wd40, or 3 in 1 oil. If you don't have that, maybe hold a regular hair dryer to it for a minute or less.

When the drill bit broke it tore up the main button pcb but atleast the sensor board is intact. Unfortunately I cant seem to be able to unscrew any of the pcb screws because Razer glued them on with a very strong adhesive. Going to need to figure out a way to get the sensor pcb out intact so I can maybe make a kinzuadder one day.

Do you have a flathead screwdriver that fits?

Had this happen when I tried open my first Deathadder. It took me a minute to think "hmmm I need a larger handle on this screwdriver for more grip!"

Also whenever I imagine omar231 using a drill all I can think of is Paul Timberman.

I tried a larger handle screw driver but none of them fit the screw. I tried using pliers+eyeglass screwdriver but it wouldnt budge.

Then get the proper tools before wrecking anything and everything.

Let me guess, you have one of these?

If you do, drop it. Before you end up stripping everything the drivers touch. The drivers at this point probably have worn out already as well.

Get yourself a quality #1 philips head driver. A 2mm flathead should work as well.

LMB is easy to fix. 3 solder joints, if that's too much than just open the switch and refurbish the spring.

PCB ia already destroyed I was never a fan of the DA shape so Im going to make a Kinzuadder when a cheap used Kinzu pops up.
