So i play valorant everyday and have finally decided to fix my fps. I have s b550 with a 3900x and a 2080 super. With a bit of researching i found out that higher end systems are limited to the CPU GHz. I was wondering if there is a fix or if i just have to overclock/ buy s CPU with less cores but faster.

Typically, the high-end consumer CPUs have higher turbos than the lower-end range. So if you provide proper cooling, the 3900x should be running 2-3 cores with a higher clock speed than a 3800X or 3600X, etc.

However, on another note, your 3900X's clock speed definitely isn't the issue here.

  1. What problem are you having with your FPS?
  2. Do you have the Ryzen Balanced power profile set, or the high performance one?
  3. What cooler are you using to cool the CPU?

Sell the 3900X and drop in a 5800X/5900X. The difference in Valorant is enormous.

EDIT: Nevermind, I saw your other thread where you said you were getting 150fps with the 3900X. That's insanely low for that game and your hardware; you have something else going on.
Do you have any idea how i could find the problem?

mm~
150 is low ~ but it can be normal if memory bottlenecks fabric
I think JSHamlet234 ment "stresstests" not benchmarks

You run an allcore or is this finetuned PBO with an EDC limit
oor even an EDC bug with a TDC & PPT limit ?

Can you maybe share slightly more information about anything you run
It's uncommon (i think) to have multiple threads where people have to backtrack your history
More information about your setup, what you run ~ wouldn't be so bad
Maybe a Zentimings screenshot and/or full extended hwinfo screenshot (bottom left arrow buttons)

Valorant is a CPU intensive game
But even then, if the OS is full of bloat ~ like antivirus softwares, anti cheats, microsofts office, rgb softwares
It can very well eat away CPU resources
Personally i think it's either the memory or the CPU is fully unstable
y-cruncher - A Multi-Threaded Pi Program
Verify thermal and CPU stability with this , key combination 1 enter 7 enter 0 enter
Let it loop 4 times (4 cycles) ala 72min ~ then you can call your CPU and fabric OC stable

EDIT:
It is common for this burn test to hit 90-94c (if power limits where removed)
But please verify it, as on an allcore you will never pass it (voltage too high)
Just to be sure whatever you run, or did ~ is actually stable in the first place
(prime95 is weaker than this)

Another option is OCCT,
The "extreme" preset , for 1h
Generally any burn test longer than 45min ~ as thermal equilibrium takes at least 40min to be reached/equalised.
Same goes for memory stability tests

when i play valorant, the cpu is only at 30-40% but the GHz of the cpu is at the max (4.2GHz), and my gpu is sitting at around 40 %. It almost feels like there's a hidden setting i need to turn on or some **** like that. Also "

Have you checked the subreddit?

Someone running a 3900X with a 6900XT and they are around 150fps or lower.

I'm just gonna assume also that you're running this off a SSD and not a mechanical drive.

In fact, I found more flaws in the game. In addition to what you didn't like, I also found a number of other issues. Due to the fact that this game is artificially raised interest, it seems to me the developers have not thought of some points. For example, not all countries have voice chat. I think for modern times it is strange. I also wish there were more ways to pump your character. This may seem ridiculous, but I still find it hard to do on my own. Most of the time I have to resort to the help of boosters. Nowadays, you can easily find the necessary boosters like the ones at https://ggboost.com on the internet. I also think there should be a separate store with character boosting items. This would make it easier for players.
