Hello forum members. I'm thinking about buying a massage chair and I don't even know if it's a good purchase or not. So I need specific reasons. What can you tell me about it?

They are mostly just "vibrating" chairs. They can be, if not well made, uncomfortable if the vibration mechanism isn't properly cushioned.

The vibration is beneficial for prolonged sitting as it helps promote blood flow.

But mostly its a gimmick and a cheap seat made with fake leather, poor stitch quality, and junk cushioning.

They come in all shapes and sizes, with different massage technologies. Some even use high pressure water hoses to massage you. Anywho I had a massage chair that had kneading heads or whatever it's called. It went up and down on the back and also massaged the calf's which was painful as it was too tight for my legs. I mostly purchased it for my back shoulder pain, and it worked if I stopped the chair from going up and down, and only focus on that spot alone. Then I saw a little Shiatsu massager on Amazon, and it is so much better than a huge chair (for me at least). Sold the chair after that.

I used to service a brand of massage chair years ago. They are far from just vibrating chairs. The one I worked on has rollers in the back and in the seat and in the leg rest that would work your muscles. The leg rest would squeeze your caffs. Rollers would work up and down your back, with vibration. Better chairs have more rollers and can work more areas of your body.

I have had problems with my back in my work, and I was thinking about a massage chair, but I purchased just a back piece for about $100. It has rollers and heat, and does a great job. Fixes my back up great.

The one I ordered is something like this. I love it. It's much better than purchasing a gaming chair with massage.

The one I purchased did not have the seat part this one has, just the back.

We live in an era of total stress. Sometimes, just getting to the masseur can be a source of unpleasant emotions. With a massage chair, it's different. That's why I've been considering different options. It's there for you when you need it. Muscle tension is caused by accumulated stress. These chair will help you relax, relieve tension, enhance mental clarity, and reduce anxiety while you are immersed in it.

My inlaws got a $5k massage chair, bought that I believe in 2010, yes, it was already that expensive back in the day...

I love using it because it feels expensive, and I felt rich for a bit LOL no joke though it feels good for the lower back and upper legs...

Honest opinion? Good sports massage therapist in Sydney Aus cost around $100 per hour, and going there twice a month for maintenance and injury rehab is more than enough, so, I going to great sports massage therapist would cost us like $200 per month, $2000 ish per year, and that, if we go 20 times a year, if we get ourselves a massage from certified sports therapist just once a month or 10-12 times a year, it's gonna cost us $1200 a year, $5k is around 4 years proper muscle theraphy.

That being said unless you are buying one that cost more than $10k today, you are wasting your money, seriously. I do believe the one that will do proper job like the one my inlaws have will cost roughly $8k MINIMUM these days.

Hey there! If you’re on the fence about buying a massage chair, I’d say it’s a great investment if you value regular relaxation and relief from muscle tension. For me, having a massage chair at home has been a game-changer, especially after long days or tough workouts. It’s like having a personal masseuse on call. Plus, over time, it can save you money on professional massages, especially on Black Friday. A massage chair will be a good choice for you. Just make sure to choose one that suits your needs and budget, and you’ll likely find it worth every penny!

A massage chair can help relieve muscle tension, reduce stress, improve posture, and give you a way to relax after a long day. It’s also great for people who sit or stand a lot. If you’re thinking about getting one, Osaki massage chairs are a solid choice—they’re comfortable, well-built, and offer a lot of useful features without overcomplicating things.

I bought 2 high end massage chairs for home use, i have to admit i went overboard, one would've been enough. It is very relaxing, after a 30 min session you just want to crash and sleep. Helps with relieve on back pain if done regularly.

Here is one of them, the other i see it was replaced with a newer model.
