ZOWIE ZA11

In this thread I want to present some pictures, thoughts and facts about the Zowie ZA11

Boxing

The box is like the box for the new EC1/2-A mice, plain, white, simple.

What's included:
- Zowie ZA11
- Pair of extra mousefeet
- Sticker
- Manual

Box:

Weight & Shape

The weight is exactly like the FK1, while the shape is very similar. The biggest difference obviously being the bigger hump at the back. The ZA11 also has a bit more protruding sides at the front, kind of a mini G400 lip.

Weight: 90 g
Height: 40 mm
Width: 67 mm
Estimated width at grip position: 60 mm
Length: 128 mm
Number of buttons: 5 (plus dpi toggle on the bottom)

Here are a comparisons with the older FK1

Now some pictures next to the AM, which is probably the closest Zowie mouse together with the FK, however the AM is notably thinner, so someone with a ZA12 or ZA13 might be able to compare them better.

EC2-A - ZA11 - AM

G303 - FK1 - EC2-A - ZA11 - AM - G100s

Kana - FK1 - ZA11 - ZA12 - ZA13

Close up of Kana and ZA12

Now some pictures how I hold the mouse (I'd describe it as a hybrid of claw-palm)

For comparison: My hand is around 20 cm from the tip of my middle finger to the base.

As expected the ZA11 feels very similar to the FK1, to me mainly because I don't do a relaxed palm grip. However when I use it with such it feels a lot better than the FK1 because of the better support for the palm. The back also feels a bit wider, which I quite like.

Of course shape is completely individual preference, so everyone has to try for himself in the end. The perfect shape for me might be horrible for others. So please keep the pictures of my grip in mind for comparison.

Sensor / Performance

Now this gets pretty dull, as it performs just like you would expect: A very good 3310 performance. I've added MouseTester screens anyway, only at 1000 Hz this time.
ALL TESTS ARE PERFORMED ON THE QPAD UC-50
LOD was standard.
The real dpi for each setting can be seen in the mouse tester print.

400 cpi, 1000 Hz

800 cpi, 1000 Hz

1600 cpi, 1000 Hz

3200 cpi, 1000 Hz

CPI steps

Polling rate was completely stable.

Speed related accuracy variance
There is a bit, like expected. Seems very consistent though.

Lift Off Distance

Same as FK1 and EC2-A, so very low.

Buttons / Switches / Scroll Wheel

Main buttons feel a bit lighter than the FK1 buttons, they also sound lighter. The steps on the scroll wheel feel nice. However: at a certain point of the wheel revolution it is notably harder to press the wheel button. Maybe this goes away with usage, I'll report on that.

Build Quality

All in all good. The cord is rubber like all Zowies, the best cables in my opinion. The coating feels very similar to the FK1 out of the box, not as smooth as the EC2-A was for me.
There is a bit of noise when I shake the mouse, coming from the wheel. When I put my finger on the wheel while shaking it is silent. No lens rattle like on my FK1.

Conclusion

Great alternative for palm grippers who are ok with the width.

With long fingers yes, otherwise I'd say rather go for the smaller versions.

Would you say it feels a bit longer than the FK1 due to the larger butt shifting the hand back, or would you say they still feel the same? Of course, I guess this would depend on the grip, but just curious as to your thoughts. You think someone with a pronounced claw grip might be better off sizing down from the FK line?

I have doubts about the size and shape of the ZA11's rear. It might be too wide for me to lift it with my palm. So I might be better off getting the ZA12. I can lift the AM with my palm, I finder it harder with the FK

Why no mention of the side buttons? Better than the FK? Is it easier to actuate mouse 4 on the ZA than the FK?

It really comes down to hand size, with my hand I can claw it, but if my fingers were just a bit shorter it would be difficult. ZA12 should work though. But if you are strictly claw I don't see a benefit in the ZA over the FK.

Side buttons are fine, but I had no trouble with the FK1 either. ZA11 is much easier to lift with palm than FK1 for me.

Hi, this is my first gaming mouse so please excuse me for this dumb question =D Do you put on the mouse feet they give you in the pack or is one already on the mouse from the factory, so when the factory one breaks down then we put the extra one on? Just want to make sure before using! Thank you for review

The butt is the appeal. I like to dig the mouse into my palm and the ZA line seems much better for that than the FK since the latter doesn't really yield much contact in the back. For reference my favorite shape is the G9 since it has a really stubby, pronounced butt that gives a lot of palm contact for me.

Alright, that is more in line with my grip preference, and I like the ZA butt in my hand.
