Hey soldiers,

Apparently there is some intermittent server issues with PunkBuster, causing a game crash whenever you try to join PunkBuster enabled servers.

At this time, even their website http://evenbalance.com [evenbalance.com] is not responding.

As soon as we get any new info, we'll update this Sticky.

Thanks.

X

UPDATE: Community Member ThePro_PR has a possible workaround:

While this will not 100% guarantee fix everyone, if it does fix you, make sure to thank him on the thread.
This is total BS, PB doesn't work against cheaters and still has the unfixable "no packet flow issue". And now it's not working.

About last year they said that non-PB server can't run ranked. So both servers that I can play on were down, and is not permitted to run non-PB.

This year, they got karma'd.

Glad you were able to do so, I tried all known methods and PB still kicks me for that reason

That was like me, I gave up on trying to fix it, low and behold my computer illiterate brother found a solution.

Did you try this?

Go to 'Battlefield 3' folder in origin games and delete the 'pb' folder and the 'pbsvc' file I think its called (has blue PB icon)
Download 'PBsetup.exe' from evenbalance and extract it to your 'battlefield 3' folder.
Run PBsetup as admin, 'add game' 'Battlefield 3'. 'Check for updates', allow to update.
go to :eek:rigin games / Battlefield 3 / _Installer / punkbuster / redist and run 'pbsvc' and 'install/reinstall punkbuster service'.

Game should then work

Worked for me, every time I restart I have to redo that process without downloading the setup, just delete pb folder, add game and update in pbsetup, then install/reinstall from the pbsvc.

I don't know about others, but the evenbalance website is unreachable / down for me - so no PBsetup download possible.

Maybe hold off on deleting anything until evenbalance is back online / up.

Did they just update their dns settings or something?

EA too lazy to develop own. Use other lazy man's software

Definitely hold off on deleting anything from battlefield folder yet until its back online.

When it does do try the fix I used. Although I do have to do it every time i reboot, its better than no BF3.

Not sure what they did but was a big boo boo. I've tried all afternoon to reach their website but no go. Un-nefer did you try the DNS fix that's linked in the link for this topic?

I had it happen on 3 separate machines now. Only thing all 3 have in common is Realtek audio.
It did on my previous system's Maximus III Gene board, i had to disable the built in sound even though it wasn't in use as I've alway used the HDMI sound from my graphics card.
