Well the box says 80% efficient and the sticker says 130 watts for the 3.3v and 5v
And 2 12v rails one with 15 amp and the other with 18 amp
Doesn't say max watts on 12v but I assume 370 watts so thats 31 amps max.
Just curious if I should wait to the forth of July to plug it in or is it usable.

my friend has a pentium 4, 1gb ram, and nvidia 6600, 2 hdds and a dvd burner. he has run it off that psu for a year. he built his pc out of spare parts and just bought the monitor, hdd, psu, keyboard and mouse.

It's a Huntkey 500W, 500W peak @ 25°C. Only about 400W continuous and that's still at 25°C. Still better than Deer, Powmax, Codegen, etc.

For $20, you did good. But don't power ANYTHING that has a graphics card requiring a PCIe power connectors or a rig with more than a couple HDD's in it, etc.

But it is fairly efficient and does have all of the proper safety protection in place.

Sorry for Updating a Old thread but i couldn't find a newer one and i didn't see the point in making a New one.

I have a Dynex 500 Watt PSU, have had it for 2 Years. Here are my specs:

Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2Ghz OC'ed 3.12Ghz
G41M-ES2L M/B
4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800 Mhz RAM OC'ed to 950Mhz
2 HDD's 80, 500GB
DVD Drive
7 Fans (Neon)
9800GTX+ OC'ed 760/1910/1200

So who ever said these PSU's suck needs a Reality Check.

So yes OP it's fine, and anybody looking these up, i wouldn't SLI with it, but its ok for most Rigs.

Sigh.

It's a mediocre Huntkey unit, that can provide what Best Buy rates it for, but has no protections (or improperly configured ones) so will explode when pushed past that rating. Which you haven't done since your system pulls like 250W.

They aren't the worst thing ever made, but they are mediocre.

According to Newegg PSU Calculator my rig is pulling 468 Watts.

So its a Good PSU

And it does have Protections.

and yes..your right...there not as bad as some...*cough* Chiefmax *cough* and their not Cosir either, but they should be put higher on the list than "Decent for a Celeron and a 7600GX Only" lol

"Higher Cost doesn't always mean better" (~$20-Dynex/ $76.99-Chiefmax)

Newegg PSU calculator is a joke. Usually overestimates by 80-150%. Use the outervision.extreme.com one, just don't make the newbie mistake of setting CPU TDP and % usage and % cap derating to max, since that will vastly inflate its recommendation as well.

Like I said, you're using around 250W.

Why? You can get a decent quality PSU for $25-40.

Cause I can?

I just noticed the other day I had enough parts for a build (except a mobo) so I got me a cheapo board here. There is one in-depth review of the Dynex 400, and it actually can put out 400w at a decent temp. I will only be needing about 275-300 so I should be OK.

Famous last words, right?

Just looked at your site there. "415-465 Watts" left the TDP and stuff at default. again its not just 250..lol

Like i said, its a good PSU.

I put in the numbers for your rig and get 366W recommended, 316W minimum. Consider that this calculator still tends to estimate. 300W is what you might get running LinX and Furmark at the same time. 250W is what your gaming load is going to look like.

Well i just wanna say I'm not trying to "fight" you or nothing, just i know its more than 250, considering i just got off of RIFT and the PSU was shooting flames out of the back. (Being Over Dramatic) but you get what i mean.

So i do need a New PSU, just don't have the money, cuz i need at least a 750 to 800 for my next one. (Have C2Q and SLI in mind)

No, you aren't drawing more than 250w when you're gaming. You probably haven't run LinX/Furmark simultaneously either so you haven't ever taken it over 300w.

It still isn't a good PSU.

So anyways, its decent, and pulling more than 250. Guys I'm on Vista/7.

Its decent... until the overload protection fails to protect your components.
