this is sorta related

just got 13900ks, but had really weird coil whine while moving my mouse.

isolated and fixed it - everything stock out of box on a fresh install of windows. it being caused by mouse movement meant it was probably cpu related. watched hwinfo while doing various mouse movements. noticed that p-core 1 was going up to 30-40% usage when i was moving mouse (really strange, no?). disabled idle, no more coil whine. everything static at the stock 5.6ghz.

pump/aio ramps up though when i do mouse movement, very strange that simply moving my mouse changes core 1 to 30-40% usage

this isn't normal right? seems very strange.. can anyone else move their mouse around and watch hwinfo? i find it really hard to believe that a 1khz mouse is causing 40% usage

Very satisfied w/ this setup so far, just fired it up today and want some feedback on this CPU. CPU is running around 6-6.2Ghz on air and ram at 8425Mhz (air).

2x16Gb Unbranded Hynix A-Die HMCG78AGBUA081N AA

Coming from an I7-4790K I'm completely out of the loop in regards to this new family, lots to learn here.

Just using air cooling because my water setup is not ready to hook up yet. Plus my PSU has only 1 8--pin connector so I'm not ready to push anything yet.

where did you get your unbranded hynix As sir?

If the CPU VID at 100% idle (0% usage) is 1.2v, in power saver mode, how can we even expect the CPU idle temps to be low?

Something is not right. Idle CPU voltage should not be 1.287v
Should be 0.760v so for cores and cache.
1100 cores 800 ecores and 800 for cache. That’s what mine shows. The cpu package shows 29-30c but individual cores are about 26-28c.

Can be lower than 0.7 even.

So the Pcores can actually downclock to 800, all at once. For some reason they are not doing it.

And my Pcores won't down volt below 1.28v at idle.

Which power plan are you using? Try Power Saver just to see if it's power plan related. If that doesn't help: You got EIST/Speedshift, C-States all that stuff enabled?

That’s sounds abnormal. But I’m not sure on 1khz mouse effects. I don’t even know what 1khz mouse means?! Haha! What’s a regular mouse speed?

most gaming mice poll at 1000hz nowadays. any modern cpu can handle that no problem. usually mice that have 8000hz polling rate are more strenuous on cpu and require OS optimization to have full compatibility

any advice on finding max bootable ram freq? i knew how to do on ddr4 but im a bit lost with ddr5 :p

dont think i can just leave everything auto and loosen main timings

gonna leave my cpu oc alone mostly for now since im on an aio until my stuff for loop comes

I still have slightly hotter temperatures on my i5-13600KF than I was expecting. My CPU cooler is Be Quiet! Dark Rock 4 and my case has great airflow. My old i7-11700F used to run cooler with the same cooling setup and even higher power consumption. My i5-13600KF is undervolted and overclocked to 5.2Ghz / 4.2 Ghz (P/E) and 1.18V.

I added Thermalright contact frame and tightened all the screws evenly. I added thermal paste according to Noctua's instructions so a small dot in the center and smaller dots in corners. Then I carefully and evenly tightened the CPU cooler. Still, there's always a spot on the CPU where there's no thermal paste. Sometimes it's on the side and sometimes on the top.

Now I tried to spread thermal paste with a piece of plastic. My idle temps are lower than ever but load temps are still the same. I haven't checked the thermal paste spread after that though. I also don't think Noctua NT-H2 has any break-in time.

For the ddr5. Go to the official intel ddr5 overclocking page and people post lots of their setups with a-die. Should give you lots of info to start off on. With your setup you should be able to hit 7600 no problem.
