SourceIt seems like Vulkan will be supporting GTA V as AMD Roy replied telling them it will supporting Vulkan.
AMD wrote on twitter today "Get ready, RockstarGames GTAV is coming soon to a PC near you" making users like "artins90″ reply with "Mantle support would be great, open world games benefit from it the most but I don't think it's going to happen" but suddently Roy from AMD suprisgly replies back with "it will via Vulkan".
OSX does not use the Linux kernel.Originally Posted by 47 Knucklehead
Again, like I said, unless they plan to release it on Linux (which includes Mac, since OSX is Linux), it is pointless. As far as Windows 7, I think that will be largely irrelevant quickly, since it will be a free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (and thus DirectX 12). Windows 10 beta smokes Windows 7 outside the business market.
Would it have been pointless if they were to program it for regular OpenGL ?
They will support it,
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/valve-announces-source-2-steam-link-and-steam-vr/1100-6425674/Half-Life maker Valve has unveiled Steam Link, the Source 2 engine, and more, at the Game Developers Conference today.
Steam Link will enable game streaming from Steam Machines, PC, Mac, and Linux PC within a network.
Valve revealed the Source 2 engine, a successor to the Source engine which powered games such as Counter-Strike and Half Life 2. Source 2 has been made with a focus on "increasing creator productivity." Source 2 will be free to content developers, allowing "gamers themselves to participate in the creation and development of their favorite games." It will be compatible with Vulkan, the name of the graphics API Valve teased earlier this month.
It's OpenGL....
Bu...but....
As I recall the supporters during the Vulkan reveal and various tech talks were Epic, Unity, Oxide, Valve, and DICE. It's a pretty impressive cast of promoters right out of the gate.Originally Posted by Ganf

But if it is true, Vulkan is going to get a huge boost over DX12 being the first one out, and having it's first game be a title like GTA V, when DX12's first title is expected to be that Fable whatever, which is looking kinda meh.
:not sure if serious:
Nvidia have been working closely with Khronos to build NexGen OpenGL. I am sure they will definitely support it.
