@1usmus

Any chance to upload straight 129 MSI bios without mod please :)
Do not be afraid, you can install it via M-flash (if afuefix is too complicated for you). I believe that AMD CBS and AMD PBS must be unlocked in this motherboard.

I warn you, you will need very good cooling and high-quality power supply

I suppose that this preset is the most relevant, as the increase in frequency leads to a non-linear increase in voltage (after 3.7Ghz), which will negatively affect the temperature and power consumption

PBO enabled 500 500 500
BCLK 103
Scalar 3X or 4X
Cpu offset voltage +0.01 or -0.1 (there is no error)
VRM Frequency 600-800Khz
CPU LLC lvl 2
SVM disabled
Perfomance regulator CB15 win10

its for 3.85-4.3 Ghz (Multi/Single)

Next preset only for custom water !

PBO enabled 1000 1000 1000
BCLK 103
Scalar 5X or 6X
Cpu offset voltage +0.01
VRM Frequency 800Khz
CPU LLC lvl 1
SVM disabled
Perfomance regulator CB15 win10

its for 4.0-4.3 Ghz (Multi/Single)

I will update the presets with each BIOS update (I will try to keep up) :D
Nice, While I am not specifically using PBO, this may help me achieve 4.1/4.2 as I am stuck on 4ghz on all cores at the moment. I am using Custom WC so will shoot for the second set of settings you have and see where I get. With PBO settings of 1000,1000,1000 I am glad to have 1.6 Kilowatt PSU lol.

By the way is the 129 Mod BIOS still a Beta ?

Many many thanks my friend!! You are awesome. In my signature you have my hardware. I have custom watercooling with two 480x60mm radiator. Just waiting for the monoblock for the VRM. For now will go to first option until I get the vrm monoblock installed. Can I install directly the 129 bios mod? In your documented procedure with boot from pen, first we install the original version and then the mod version. As I understood right. Can we go all the way directly to bios mod version?

My configuration for manual overclocking 4.1GHz

LLC 2
CPU VRM Frequency 800 (you have to spend time searching for the ideal VRM frequency , it is very dependent on the stability of the processor, just want to note that too high a frequency will worsen the voltage-frequency characteristics of the processor)
Cpu voltage 1.35v

Yes, its beta :)
maybe it will be the release version

You can already try both presets, but in any case, I advise you to control the processor voltage (CPU Core Voltage (SVI2 TFN)) through HWinfo. 1.5 is the maximum allowable voltage. If it exceeds 1.5, you need to use negative offset.

In this version of the mod, the digital signature is saved, you do not need to install the original
only Afuefix64 name_bios /P /B /N /K /X /CLRCFG

Nice one bud, I will wait for the Official BIOS with your mod.

Though I guess applying the below wont hurt to give an overall more stable platform ?

Ok no worries I can use the afuefix flash method no worries. Cheers :p

Hi,

can anyone help me explained why my new EKWB monoblock for RTX 2080ti is not having the fluid full in all the monoblock, when the card is in the vertical position, as you can see in the photo? What can be wrong?

better install, because you can wait a very long time...

turn the case over and make it so that the air is gone

Already tried in the horizontal way. Everything is fine on horizontal. Every space is filled with liquid. But when I turn it back to vertical, the same thing happens. Maybe I need to leave it on horizontal for long time (many hours) with the pump on?

Hi 1usmus,

Just tried the last preset in my RIG and so far so good :)
6200 points on CineBench R15 :))))
Still I have some doubts

1 - I can't put an offset of +0.01. The minium I can put is +0.1. If I try to put +0.01, it goes automatically to AUTO
2 - Cant find LLC (load line calibration). But I think is the same as Load Line Control, right? And I should chose mode 2, correct?
3 - When you say PBO enabled, it's PBO manual to enter 1000 1000 1000, right?
4 - Scalar I put 6x. The bigger, the better?
5 - I Didn't find in BIOS an option with the name VRM Frequency, but I choose an option regarding VRM and there was the 800Mhz frequency. Hope that is that one. I couldn't find any other option related to this

Btw, my GPU block now is ok. Just turn it around and no more air. The max temp of my RTX 2080ti, in a constant of 2150Mhz is 38Âş C under full load and for many minutes :))

Thanks again!

@1usmus

with your PBO 1000 1000 1000 preset I get around 1.5 and 1.525V max. Do you think I need to use a negative offset? I've tried -0.1 with no luck. Can't even boot. If I leave the offset on auto, everything is ok. The max temp of the CPU reach 66Âş C. What do you think?

EDIT: one problem with the BCLK 103... If I use this my Samsung 970 Pro cuts speed in half. It detects PCIe Gen2 instead of Gen3. If I put back BCLK auto (100), everything is fine again

EDIT2: I was getting often E6 error on the mobo LCD. In the manual there isn't any description for that code (don't know why) but I think I found the root cause. I think it was the profile2 I was using for 3200 Ram trimmings. Just using now the memory try it with other timings and a little more voltage 1.36. And as of now with a lot of soft and cold starts, not a problem.

EDUT4: using an offset of -0.1v for the CP, as 1usmus advice to get max of 1.4v and not reach 1.5 with his stronger preset. So far so good with 2 hours of OCCT 4.5.1 that normally detects very quick instability.

I'm getting a 0E (microcode not found) or other times E6 error (not available on the manual) specially in cold boot. Normally pressing the reset button, the computer shutdown a restarts and It can boot again. I thought I've narrow the problem to the RAM trimmings, but even with the new timings using more conservative values for 3200 from memory try, it continue to happen. What could be the problem? RAM? the bios 129 version itself because its beta?

EDIT: I think I finally narrow the problem if these post errors. I was using a cpu voltage negative offset with 0.1. Since it is impossible to put 0.01. So I think most times the CPU wasn't stable to boot with this offset voltage. Changed to -0.0125 (the minimum the BIOS allow) and now I've tried more then 10 cold start and soft re-starts without any errors :)

Thanks!

@1usmus and all you guys!

Just share my findings during these two long days, testing and testing, benchmarking and benchmarking, the OC stability and the maximum possible for my new 2990WX.

So for PBO (3.9 Multi / 4.2 single), I used the max preset from 1usmus (many thanks for sharing it with us) and since I've reach 1.5 on Prime95 29.6, I used an offset of -0,125v. Didn't go for 4.3 since changing the BLCK to 103 Mhz, my Samsung 970 Pro Nvme "downgrade" to PCI gen 2 x 4. Could be a bug in the BIOS and if MSI fix it, I will change to 103. But for now, no, because I loose half of the performance of my Nvme, from 3600mb/s reading o 1800
I could get around 6000 in Cinebench R15

I've tested: 2 hours Prime99 26.6, 2 hours os AIDA Stress Testing, 2 hours of OCCT 4.5.1, 3dmark (a lot of tests), Sisoft Sandra 2018 SP2: all the CPU, memory and cache tests several times.

And it looks everything its stable.

For manual, to 4.1Ghz in all cores, I've used the settings also shared by 1usmus but had to change the vcore from 1.35 to 1.425 since it was not stable in Prime95 and in Sisoft Sandra. Here I could get 6300 score on cinebench R15 woooww

And take a look on how much this monsters eat electricity in Prime95. Almost 1000 watts!!!

Thanks for sharing your findings! I think 4.0Ghz is the sweet spot for the 2990WX. 4.1 can sometimes require an extra bump in V-core that just is not worth the performance gains in my humble opinion. Sure we always like to chase that number, but realistically there is a limit to the noticeable difference you are going to see between 4.0Ghz and 4.1 in real world situations. Even synthetically the returns you get for all that increased power usage is virtually nil.

Hi!

Do you prefer to use manual OC or PBO, like shared by 1usmus? For 4.0Ghz how much vcore are you using?

Thanks!

I am going via Manual OC. 4.0Ghz at the moment 1.32, but I need to verify as I am re-testing an instability and for that I have boosted the V-core up to 1.35. If it is not a CPU issue then I can bring it down to 1.32 again gingers crossed.

In manual, for the PBO do you leave it disabled, auto or manual changing the values for example 1000 1000 1000? And also form precision overdrive, what setting you put in manual OC?
