Especially since the 3090's are pulling full power from PCIe (as I stumbled upon a post that said so, so it must be true lol)

I was curious how much power this GPU would draw when just browsing with Chrome. The active tab is just a youtube video. 113W, yikes! This doesn't change when using "Maximum Performance" power mode or "Default" (NVIDIA CP). May have to force myself to use my laptop for browsing.

When switching to normal in Nvidia CP I think you need to restart for it to take affect. You could also setup a profile for browsing by bringing all the sliders to the left. Pretty sure I've seen it lower than 100w.

As I was testing I was alreay in normal mode and I had set it to Maximum Performance. After I had rebooted I didn't see a difference with Chrome browsing, still the same 113W. With Chrome closed it drops to around 33W-35W.

Good idea about using the browsing profile.. I will test that.

browsing profile??? You make this profile or is there some hidden profile?

Using MSI AB or PX1 to lower the power slider below "100" and save that as a new profile in the app.

3090Ti Black dropped by a benjamin now $1899.. likely due to the 6950XT.

How low do you think it will it go prior to 40xx launch?

Think I might go with this one and maybe a full plexi/nickel kit and replace all with new.

I've always had good luck with EK, any other opinions?

EK hasn't been great lately. The original FTW3 block seems to have terrible temp deltas. Lots of people with the nickel flaking off too. Hopefully they improved the design with these new blocks.

As far as whether to get it, that may be your only block option in the relatively near future and it will always beat the air cooler.

3090Ti FTW3 Black now back up to $1999... same price as the Ultra. What the heck are they doing lol... Why would anyone buy the black or the plain FTW3 if the Ultra is the same price.

I know EK's block comes out in July, but has anyone else announced a FCWB for our cards yet with a quicker release? Im dying over here waiting!!

I haven't looked in a couple weeks TBH but sadly I am not aware of anyone else that is committing to making one except EK... I am sure there is another option (right?) or maybe not.. I contacted HeatKiller and they told me there were no plans for a 3090Ti FTW3 block so one down..

My motivation is not primarily for performance this time around although I do think this silcon is just begging to be watercooled, my motivation this time is to re-gain use of my PCI-e slot that is now blocked by a fricken 4-slot cooler lol! I had to pull one of my PCI-e cards to install this and I want it back.

Pre-ordered... Down the rabbit hole I shall go.. Curious how much of a difference if any it will make but I'm honestly not expecting much. The primary motivation is to re-gain use of a blocked PCI-e slot. A single slot 3090Ti is far better than a 4-slot 3090Ti :). I don't really want to put this new block in my old loop.. I might just give the GPU a dedicated loop... not sure yet.

Just from past experience..... everytime i pre-ordered a block from EK, performance-pcs ended up having it much faster and cheaper due to coupon codes. So EK's might ship out the week of 7/15/22 where performance-pcs might actually have their stock a few days sooner and far far less shipping time. Im waiting for them to get their stock this time around. I cant wait to get this GPU on a waterblock!

<sigh> Well, it wouldn't be the first time I paid a little more than I could have ;) . Good tip though, will have to keep that in mind because I need to buy a bunch of stuff... I learned my lesson that buying quality fittings are the only way to go.. and boy do those things add up quick. I may consider Barrow but thinking I should stick with Bitspower (opinions?). I'm going to use a new rad, new pump and the more I think of it I may just end up getting a new CPU block and putting it on the same (bigger) loop as the GPU. Time to start fresh.. so those coupon codes will come in handy.

I am definitely looking forward to getting this beast on a block also... it is really just begging to be watercooled. The odd thing is that in the past a block would always get us some additional performance but with the 3090Ti, I am not expecting much more performance at all. Kinda kills the excitement a tad.. I feel like we are already getting max boost speeds but we just cannot hold those speeds. I will do a before/after comparison and post it here. I haven't looked into what others with a 3090Ti w/block are getting as far as performance yet either....I'm going to just go into this blind and see what happens. Maybe I am wrong and I will get something more but really don't think so (without being able to add more core voltage).

Maybe I am just convincing myself :) but really, although the 40xx series is expected soon, I still don't think investing into this 3090Ti is a real bad idea. I say this because we don't know the price of the 40xx series, we don't know about availabilty (will miners want them and we cannot get 40xx for 2 years again?) and 8K is very distant for many reasons. The 3090Ti especially with 24GB should last 3-4 more years and I bet runs great w/UE5. A considerable upgrade from my 2080Ti FTW3 and I may very well just sit out the 40xx series.

Just heard this today, although nothing official. 4090Ti AIB cards rumored to be 4-4.5 slots! o_O
Truth? That would be rediculous right? Then again cooling 600W..

We shall see....

EVGA Anniversary event... not exactly sure when this was posted. Deep discounts (panic sales?)
Looks like you have to buy all three, power supply, GPU and peripheral.

EVGA definitely wants to get rid of current stock, but this is actually a pretty good deal if you are in the need of a 3080+ GPU and a power supply to handle it.

I couldn’t resist. I upgraded my Asus 2060 Dual to a EVGA 3090Ti Ultra. I’m not a gamer, but I edit a bunc of pictures and 4K videos. So far I think I made a good decision. Damn Microcenter. It’s like the Home Depot of computer stores.
