I’ve got a Seasonic Prime and this cablemod pro RT set seems compatible.
However: I do read quite a lot about quality issues, resistance, molding issues, stability issues, shutdowns, molex connectors burning out, PSU’s blowing up.
How is the quality of these cables? Really that bad?!? or are these the few exceptions that made the interwebz.

My build is working perfect with the factory seasonic cables, but I like the cosmetics of Cablemod.
Please share your experiences

I have had CableMod cables and i would not recommended them they were great until a few years ago when the quality started to get worse
Then add all the problems and i am not 100% sure if the problems i had with random shut downs were the cables or the PSU so i sent the PSU to RMA and threw the cables out

There are better options out there and CableMod is overpriced compared to what you are getting
I think you should just keep the stock cables i have had aftermarket cables and my experience is they are more trouble than the cost is worth

Sometimes I build a pc for people, and if they want that sleek cable look, I usually go for Phanteks extension cables instead of Cablemod. They sell kits. Half price, yet same quality. I personally do not use extension cables anymore as I've had issues in the past with melted connectors etc.

Plenty of youtube videos reviewing them, but they seem to be most commonly sold in Europe.

Stick with stock and avoid Cablemods.

In my case, it was getting in the way of my reservoir/pump even cable tying them wouldn't help.
I rather not have an accidental leak and then the PSU shorting out because water got into the cable and it makes managing the loop tougher. Hence why i needed super short length cables.
Try doing it yourself or get an local cable guy to make the cables.

The MDPC-X cable builder even mainframe are generally very good and have no issues. However, the MDPC-X ones are generally the more pricier ones. In europe, PexonPC stuff isn't cheap. I use Titanrigs Mod-One and even when they are 20-30% off they still aren't cheap if your doing full length cables.

Personal preference but generally MDPC-X weave (cable sleeving Germany) has the best looking colors for custom cables but they are stiffer so length has to be close as possible to minimum length needed for your case.

Around 2016 i got a full EVGA G2 cable pack in red plus some LED strips and SATA cables from CableMod cables for free as a thank you from CableMod due to all the help and all the free advertising i was giving them

The guy i was talking to at the time might have been fired because of that as i never heard from him again
I did not ask for anything when i was helping them i was offered stuff and i accepted because hey free stuff

Anyway i had some of it until 2019 when i gave the G2 kit away to someone here on OCN after i sold the G2 and i also gave the LED strips away but i keept the SATA cables which i still have

Ordered some new LED strips SATA cables and power cables for a Seasonic Prime TX 750 watt since i had replaced my G2 with that

The order took ages like 5 weeks or something like that and when the cables came they were worse quality than the cables i got for free in 2016
Never had a problem with the old cables but i think the problems i had might have been the new cables

In any case the quality got worse and the price went up so thats when i stopped buying from CableMod
They had great customer service back in the day and the guy i worked with was great until i never heard from him again

I never signed any NDA so i dont give a damm if they get butthurt over me telling you all this
Hell i had a very small part in building that company to what it became

Do any of those companies make daisy chained SATA power cables?
I like the lineup Yokai Customs has, but they don't produce those (and has refused to answer any inquiry about it).

I know CableMods offers them, but obviously, I'm avoiding them.

Beyondcustoms did but you could try asking some of the other cable manufacturers if they do it. So Titanrigs Mod-One, PexonPC, Mainframe PC. I'm sure others will have suggestions there.

I use that set on a Prime Ultra Gold 1000w except for the PCI-E cables as I have custom ones for that for a Gigabyte Gaming OC 3080 which uses flat 8 pin connectors. No issues at all. However, it is a pretty old set since I originally bought it for my Focus Plus Gold 750 so it might be of the "old quality".

Ok, thnx guys, this doesn’t feel right, I’ll return the set (Amazon no fuzz Prine return) and save myself some sleep :)

Good choice, my experience with CableMod was that they are flimsy and the sleeving tends to tear off at the end pretty quickly. Changet to Corsair PSU and used their own sleeved cables ever since.

Have black/white cable kit for my 1600W G2, have worked fine for me. A few years ago i bought it though.

Actually if you ever want MDPX-C Titan Rigs and my cables work for you (everything is short except the standard length pcie cables), i will eventually replace my seasonic with the new connector standards and get whole new set of Titanrigs MDPC-X cables made. They just come out with too many colors yearly that you want. I've been experimenting with there new colors through keyboard cables. I can see myself using there Baby Blue and Carbon Brown on an PSU future cable.

Currently using Liquid Diamond, Grand-Bleu and White Carbon Ultra.

cosmetics is one thing, but I’m really concerned about bad clamps, high resistance, melted connectors short circuits etc. I want to make sure that whatever I buy, it’ mechanically and electrically at least on par with factory cables.
I’m really put off by the amount of problems people have with these in general.

Cablemods yes but there are alot of other cable people/companies. Cablemods just pays the most advertising. Ideally use extensions or stock cables but it doesn't work for every build. I bought cable mods before and never ended up the cable (back in 2017) found out MDPC-X affordable alternatives and have been with MDPC-X cable manufacturer since then. Just don't use 15awg for MDPC-X as it has difficulties inserting into the psu and MDPC-X can't use metal cable combs.

I haven't heard any complaints from people who used the other manufacturer so far but again, most people aren't willing to pay the prices for MDPC-X cables. Many just build it themselves using material from MDPC-X German Site (MDPC-X). They sell everything you need to do the wires.

Cable Mod cables are generally a higher gauge and use cheap connectors with sleeving that frays very easily. Look at custom cable makers instead, you may pay a bit more but what you get in quality is worth it.
Going custom cables should be a must for anyone with a high end CPU/GPU. When you use higher gauge wires you're more prone to where the wire may overheat, melt or catch fire.

Any reputable links to ones that ship to Europe?

They all do just expensive if not european. Look at pexonpc (uk). Couple others in germany, etc. Full list here

I have some old Cablemod custom cables from about 5 or 6 years ago (when the configurator first dropped). Those cables are still in use and have been great.

I upgraded to Z690 and a RTX 3080 12GB around the beginning of this year. When I did this I needed to add a 8 pin EPS and a 8 pin PCIe cable so I ordered them through the configurator to match what I have. They are obviously worse quality. They came in folded in a way that was nearly impossible to get the kinks out of them. They also had some random frays in the paracord. I ordered some new cable combs with them and the combs are so tight they distort and fray the cables when you snap them in. When I ordered I looked at my old invoice to get the length of the EPS and the new one they sent is obviously a good 3" shorter than the old one. I am definitely not nearly as impressed with them as I once was. I was a huge fan, now not so much. But unless I want to replace all my cables they are really my only option to match what I already have.

It’s threads like this one that make me wary of ever using Cablemod cables. Yeah yours may work fine now but could also be a ticking time bomb
