You should be able to remove the LTE module. And put a 2242 ssd in it. Or mod in a bigger one.

if the EMMC is terrible (probably is) I'm going with a 2280 🙃

That is what i would do. Because it might not fit double sided 2242's. And i haven't been able to find single sided 2242's larger than 64gb.

someone from that same Reddit thread said this 2242 fit/worked, only 120GB though.

I repasted mine and it scored 520 points in CBr23. It sits at 70c the entire time.

as long as it's single sided it'll work. I just grabbed a 2242, I tried to slap in a 2260 I had laying around but it was double sided and didn't fit

the thicccness of the drive is the issue, not that a larger capacity doesn't exist.

It never goes over 10w without that in my testing with cinebench. I have the v2.

Here is the result of installing this SSD. TEAMGROUP MS30 256GB with SLC Cache 3D NAND TLC M.2 2280 SATA III https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H23ZD94?psc=1

I took some more photos while installing the SSD. Here I removed the battery and cellular modem.

Close up of the motherboard with copper cooler.

The SSD in place of the cellular modem held with electrical tape.

These are the CPU settings I'm running. I just turned random things on and upped others. Let me know if you have any recommendations for performance tweaks.

I got 826 points! 10 minutes in it was still at 2100mhz! The first stock run was 518 points (+59.5%!!!)
