I feel ya on the dissappointment, that is why I usually wait a few supply cycles to clear some shizz off..also I am waiting for waterblocks (though I am personally eyeing on the Asrock AQUA)
Yeah was prep'd for launch day shenanigans. Just didn't think it would be as such as I'm getting, some owners on OCUK having a swell time...

I'm coming to conclusion GPU is fine and rest of rig HW, I reckon it's the C8DH UEFI at issue...

Didn't Seasonic have some older PSU a while back that would trip very easily? To me it very much looks like PSU.

Putting aside that I've had this PSU since 6yrs or so and how I've used a lot of high watt items, my £ is on UEFI.

PSU in the years owned not twitched, even when doing runs of fah for continuous 100hrs+. My rig is air dusted regularly and is pretty much dust free, including PSU internals I air dust every quarter.

Idled +1hr no issue, then done multiple runs of:-

CB15 OpenGL (~225W)
SuperPosition (~470W)
RealBench (~475W)
Blender Benchmark v3.4.0 (~465W)
MemtestCL (The Stilt mod) (~450W)

Power readings are AC side from wall plug for full rig inc 1x screen, idle max is ~110W for whole rig, UEFI 4303 Beta AGESA 1.2.0.8. Run with these set as on: SVM, Game Mode/HW GPU Scheduling, SAM and CPU on CO/FLCK/UCLK/MEMCLK OC.

Below loads system turns off:-

The Outer Worlds, at game load
The Witcher 3, at game load
Heaven, just as bench start
Valley, just as bench start
3DM FS, just as bench start
3DM TS, just as bench start

Even with stock settings for CPU/RAM/GPU, tried UEFI 4006/4201, tried without SVM, Game Mode/HW GPU Scheduling, SAM. Tried differing screen with HDMI instead of DP (55"OLED TV), tried my usual ASUS MG279Q with differing DP port and cable.

hmm pretty weird only ASUS has this issue (even on the Z690) tried downgrading the PCI-E gen just to test it out?? (4.0 to 3.0)
Will do cheers :)

Good to see an owners thread.

I wonder if the 7900xt could be flashed to xtx...is the physical ram there like the xtx I wonder. Just a wondering mind :)
Nah, some chips are taken out/missing physically from what I saw/heard

I guess you can see here

The bottom right memories and probably something more is not there

Video is my rig with all tweaks as I would have on RX 6800 XT, but RX 7900 XTX stock.

Seeing sustained load of ~560W and max ~570W.

Rig has not turned off, where as other GPU loads as stated before do, insta.

I reckon PSU is fine, letting it run with CPU/GPU fah and 400 iteriations of two instances MemtestCL 11264MB.

@kairi_zeroblade

Tried all devices to gen 3 and still issue :( ....

** edit **

15min in now, still max ~570W, sustained ~555W at the time of screenie...

Anyone with a 7900 XT | XTX and a LG C9 OLED? Could you test if Freesync works? This is a known issue with RDNA 2 where Freesync over HDMI 2.1 (4K / 120hz) won't work and only G-sync compatibility is provided at 4K 120hz (Nvidia cards only).

What I am referring to: Betrieb LG OLED C9 mit AMD-Grafikkarte / HDMI 2.1 und FreeSync / VRR
I‘ll get my card by tomorrow and will report back but as far as I know the C9 doesn’t have Freesync, instead it has a standard VRR implementation that actually worked on my 6950XT (only with the latest few drivers though).

Did you try to run your RAM on Stock frequency? I encountered before, that my RAM OC was suddenly not stable anymore after upgrading to a new GPU. Even if there is no errors showing like in Karhu etc.
What does btw GPU Power Maximum mean? I think it is a new sensor on the GPU.
On tecchannels like Igor he said you dont need any PSU over 650-700w Gold/Plat. including CPU. I just wonder what is measured there, its not like a short spike according to the average.

Thanks :) It's not a deal breaker. I refreshed the AMD website this morning and managed to get a ref 7900 XTX. We'll see if the order goes through and if it does, I'll do my own testing too :)

Not running RX7900, but similarly power hungry and easily triggering transient card that would recently cause some weird issues with PC shuts downs.
It would run blender, superposition, realbench, even my Forensic Passware kit with network agents which forces both, GPU and CPU to its knees, but as soon I would start heaven or furmark it would instantly shut down.

If it helps anyone, I have custom cables that I have never had issue with, but for some reason after switching to stock seasonic 24pin all shut downs went away, in fact my whole systems seem to run nicer. I was thinking maybe org. seasonic 24pin has voltage regulator, but didn't look like it, at least from what I could tell, but anyways....how related is that to some of your suts downs I don't know, but I though I would put that out.

this is impossible to troubleshoot unless you have another GPU (same one) with you..might be a dud batch..tried RMA'ing it? sounds a valid reason since games instantly crashes..AMD really released a half-baked product if this one is a dud..
Dropped Shamino a message, hopefully ASUS have a fix, otherwise seems its RMA time for RX 7900 XTX :( ...

Passed 1.25hrs load test ~565W MAX, sustained ~555W, min ~550W...

Yep tried stock CPU with stock RAM, etc ... Thanks for comment :) ...

Using all stock cables for PSU, fully modular, reseated all cables and checked to see plugs, etc ...

Thanks for comment :) ...

I have a C9 I can try.

Are the reference editions (power limited by AMD) the only variants that have a USB-C connector?

I... actually don't need three HDMI ports.

Thanks for your share :) .

I've used power hog kit like TR1950X/2950X, RX Vega 64 with it no issues. It's Seasonic platform in Cooler Master branding, has no OCP, single 70A rail for 12V. So I'd be surprised if it's PSU, but open to idea.
Have you tried OCCT Power Test? I have 3 different Seasonic Titanium Prime Ultra PSUs(850 and 1000w) and they all eventually would shut down when gaming. They would work fine randomly, sometimes for weeks.

Used OCCT to finally figure out it was the PSU as it would shut down when running OCCT Power Test which loads both CPU and GPU at the same time. Worth a try to see if it shuts down for you.

I have fixed my card!!!!! :):):):):)

Stock vs 2600 2400 -50mV, link to same load case. -50mV knocked whopping 138mV on average, wall plug meter now sustained ~440w vs ~555W.

1st runs of 3DM FS TS on new profile/ever on this card for me!!!!

Looking at Guru3d TS graphics score card is benching as should for current drivers, etc...
