AS*Rock AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX AQUA 24GB OC
Nice hotspot temp for water cooled card, right?
ASIC 40,2%

NexXxoS UT60 360 & 420 P/P, D5 flowrate 2l/min
PSU: Corsair 850 RMi
CPU: 5900X Supremacy EVO FN
RAM: 128 GB G.SKILL 4000MHz CL18@3600MHz Trident Z RGB

As*rock tech support reply to annoying coil whistle and high hotspot temp:
The maximum hotspot temperature of Radeon RX 7900 XTX AQUA 24GB OC is 110°C.
If the hotspot temperature is not over 110°C, the card is in normal working temperature.

Generally, it is normal for the electrical components to have coil whine when it is under load.
However, if the coil whine is severe even without overclocking, we would suggest you to contact local distributors or dealers for further checking.
So my As*rock AQUA is perfectly fine according to the support, high hotspot temp and coil whistle is a FEATURE.

The temprature of 60 seems pretty high also considering the low power draw, is the water temp ok and the pump is working correctly?
I agree that the 110 c hot spot temprature is not normal, especially consideering using 380w.

If it is not voiding the warranty I would have checked the thermal paste application.
Coil whine is prette common, and more noticeable with a waterblock.

That's a bummer. I mean technically speaking 110c hotspot is acceptable according to AMD I think. The issue though is 110c is like the ceiling and the card throttles heavily I thought?

Maybe you just need to get someone else to talk to in service/help. Sometimes it just simply the person your working with.

Also, might want to invest in alternative thermal paste/pad like kryosheet or ptm7950

About to order PTM7950 (and some Fujipoly pads) but what size is best to use on a 7900XT GPU? (40x40 or 50x30?)

What a response from ASROCK. They are not responsible... XD (SARCASM).

I also have these temperature problems but only in some applications. One here told me he was pumping. So I ordered new, less viscous thermal paste to apply it and also bought PTM7950.

I haven't tried thermal pastes yet. As soon as I receive both pastes I will do the relevant tests and show the results.

But I will say that the paste that arrived in the water block I bought from alphacool was too slimy and was likely to leak. I get a hot spot of 80-90ÂşC depending on the game and it approaches or exceeds 100ÂşC in the 3Dmark Raytracing test (not in Royal Portal).

But in your case it's probably paste pumping. I would contact ASROCK and tell them about that possibility. And if they allow you to change the paste without losing the warranty, I would do it.

Anyone have the deets on the pad thickness used for the Taichi 7900 XTX?
I want to repaste/repad but need to be sure.

40x40 is plenty, probably even too much.

Edit: The die is roughly 26x23.5 according to GN.
Thanks, ill order 40x40 pads then :)

Are they easy to cut to size?

I've scoured every site possible to find the best (in stock) prices for all of the XTX cards in the UK at the moment. All prices are from reputable sites. Which should I go for do you think? Also, are there any I should definitely avoid?

The Nitro is the best imo.
I would avoid the Asrock Phantom gaming (the Taichi is ok'ish), no experience with the others.

Definitely avoid As*rock!!!

If I didn't use water cooling, I'd take Sapphire Nitro+ (very good reviews) or GIGABYTE AORUS ELITE (because of the 4-year warranty).

Hey guys! How is the XFX Merc 310 7900 XTX compared to the others? I heard it has the highest power limits outside the liquid cooled ones and it's not as expensive as the higher ties cards like the Nitro+ and Red Devil. Only that its fans are loud but I don't care. Also, it the power limit relevant or you can increase it with MPT like the 6000 series and before? Thanks!

Out of the box the card with the highest power limit is the aqua after you flash it with the extreme aqua bios. You can do that with most cards but you need an external programmer and the aqua is the only one you can do with software.

No MPT does not work with the 7000 series.

I have a Asrock 7900XTX Phantom Gaming Card with a Bykski water block.

I set it run at 3150 mhz / 2700 mhz (core / mem) in Afterburner.

It games around 3050 mhz core. I get a GPU score of 31200 in Time Spy.

My temps are 36 degrees core, 42 degrees on mem, and hotspot is 51 degrees.

It's only been a month, but no problems yet.

Thinking about applying the Aqua bios. Does anyone know if you can restore a card back to its' stock BIOS if you change your mind (or decide to sell your card later)?

For anyone interested in MW2 benchmark numbers, the AMD 23.9.2 has added significant performance improvements to this game. I think other games have also seen a small uptick in performance too.

Don't delay, update today.

I had RMA PSU a week ago. Today they told me it was burned on the inside. It's clear that it's not just the cables that burn. I'm still waiting for their decision on whether or not they can exchange me for a new one. I'm worried and don't know what caused the problem. So sad! I might lose the PSU I just bought.

Yes you can restore it to the original bios just save the bios before you flash it with the aqua.
