My AM5 setup is no longer a air cooled test setup :) . As I had done a lot of stability testing, etc. It was time to throw in some M.2 drives, etc.

Bykski A-Ryzen-ThV2-X has been great ever since I got for Threadripper, I didn't want to not use it on AM5, so was time to get the dremel out.

Yeah my 2806 experience sucks. Can’t use DOCP/EXPO profiles or I loose my nvme ahah. Weird.
Perhaps load EXPO/DOCP, note the timings set, then use manual and set.

Personally I'd just go manual.

Ahhh the problem is not the timings that’s all ok. Just thinking if the profile would change anything else other than timings and voltage.

Using EXPO/XMP DIMM profiles sets some timings. Two ways to see them on ASUS boards without using OS.

Leave DRAM Timings Control all [Auto], enable EXPO II/DOCP II on Ai Tweaker/Extreme Tweaker. If I remember correctly, using EXPO/XMP results in ASUS tweaking the timings, see the help string in BIOS. Using II gets you SPD profiles. What timings get set are from SPD, rest left on Auto motherboard firmware sets based on Auto rules.

Most voltages again are from ASUS firmware Auto rules, only VDD/VDDQ/VPP is from SPD. You are better off optimising voltages yourself.

ProcODT/Resistances are set from motherboard BIOS Auto rules, not from SPD EXPO/XMP. These can change with a differing BIOS even when CPU/RAM kit in use did not change. So always make note of them from working setup.

Another way to see what timings are for EXPO/XMP is to go to Tools, SPD Information, you will see what timings are set using DIMM SPD EXPO/XMP. It even shows what voltages are in SPD for EXPO/XMP.

In thread in my signature, check the base setup for ASUS boards. I use ASUS TurboV Core/Ryzen Master/ZenTimings to see what are [Auto] voltages at BIOS defaults. Then I set those manual voltages, then I tune voltages based on need. Then I manually tune CPU PBO OC/RAM OC.

Cool, i'll try this today ... lets hope i can use my nvme and the xmp profiles :D

ok updated to 2902 ... using DOCP Tweaked ... and didn't saw an nvme issue yet ...

latency also better:

P.S. i know AIDA is what it is ... but if you always use that for a baseline, you can understand if it got better or not :) its about patterns :)

Ok, system rebuilt, new motherboard works fine, updated BIOS to 2902, all well so far and everything stock. I'll try and start tweaking memory etc later today. Any suggestions where to start ? Or just go with EXPO I and start from there ?

Today when I flipped between Core tunings Configuration for gaming [Auto] and [Legacy], Power Down Enable [Auto] became [Enabled] , otherwise [Auto] is PDE Disabled. So now this setting has made it on the list of manually set UEFI settings, as I don't want it changing.

This was UEFI 2902 Crosshair X670E Hero, when checking screen shots of older UEFIs this was also the case, and it was the case with the TUF X670E as well. So cheesed off I had not noticed this before.

So just to iterate clearly, if you see Power Down Enable [Auto] is [Disabled] in ZenTimings/Ryzen Master, [Auto] may become [Enabled] when you flip Core tunings Configuration for gaming [Auto] to [Legacy].

@safedisk @shamino1978 is this a bug of UEFIs? please can this be looked in to.

I really wanted a water block for my x670e gene vrms, ekwb has a monoblock for the x670e hero can it work for my motherboard? https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-quantum-momentum2-rog-crosshair-x670e-hero-d-rgb-plexi View attachment 2699942
vs

Not exactly the same, different caps, more phases, IO is not the same...

Asus X670E Extreme

I still have serious boot instability on 2703 when running EXPO profiles. I can only boot on auto. I think I've had this issue since 25xx or 26xx.

If EXPO I or II is enabled, I get constant 4D errors on boot. It can take somewhere between 1-20 restarts to boot (once it boots, it's fine).

Any suggestions?
Hey!

I'm running into the same issue on a different vendor's board (ASRock X870E Nova), would you happen to have found a solution on your end?

I've seen various reports of users with this issue but I can't exactly find what causes it.

I have not 😭

Planning to give 2904 a shot this weekend... hoping I can get back to running even default EXPO timings on 2 DIMMs...

what are the main differences from 2902 to 2904?
